New Nimbuzz Mobile instant messaging and VoIP version!

We just released a brand new version of Nimbuzz Mobile for Java, Symbian, and Windows Mobile phones (new iPhone version to follow soon)!

This new version includes:

  • Display Pictures: You set your own display picture/avatar. Take one with the camera on your mobile phone and set it now. We also display pictures from buddies in other communities.
  • Appear Offline: Stay invisible to friends on Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo, Gtalk, MySpace, and Gadu-Gadu when you are signed in. On Nimbuzz, and other supported communities you will appear as “Away”.
  • Add New Buddies: You can now add individual buddies from AIM, GTalk, Windows Live Messenger (MSN), MySpace, Yahoo, and Nimbuzz, of course  :)
  • Improved Battery Life: This new version is your batteries’ best friend. We have significantly reduced the amount of battery power needed – and Nimbuzz now runs longer on even the smallest battery.

[Update]

If you are looking for cheap international calling from you mobile and you end up here :D , I would like to introduce you also to NimbuzzOut. 8. This is good, but a have a question., why i cant upload my avatar (with pict 100kb it’s so long time to upload, and finally fail), and cant saw other buddies avatar..

    Trym January 29th, 2009
  9. One of the things in this new upgraded of version of Nimbuzz mobile is that it has loads of gripes with the tools. For instance, if i upload my pic, it stays for a while and then it disappears completely in just a matter of time. On the other side if i want to clear the image to upload a new one, Nimbuzz takes ages to eradicate the previous one. And while i see my uploaded picture on my screen, but at the same time my friends claim that they can only see the default avatar. Lot of my friends concur with me on this issuse and i suppose many other out there do face the same bug… Suprisingly, none of the users addressed on this issuse else where in this world despite facing the bugs. These bugs really annoys me and pisses me off.. Wtf? I want Nimbuzz officials to work on this issuse as early. So that this new version could provide a palatable environment. :) Thank you! Keep going. :) Regards from a 16year old teen from India! :) . Looking forward in hearing you. :)

  55. i love Nimbuzz so much and that’s why this is so difficult for me to criticize it.
First of all let me thank you for making it possible for me to write in Hebrew(right to left).
I am sorry to say it but Nimbuzz is not a mobile app, Nimbuzz drains my N82 battery completely after 3 and half hours…which makes my mobile phone to be similar to a laptop.
You guys made an excellent app it is superior to Fring in every aspect. But what good does its excellent features(specially the voice quality) does to it when after 3 and half hours my phone is dead. Cell phone is mobility, when i use Fring i don’t have to worry about battery life, my phone works with Fring for days not hours. i urge you please do something to significally to improve battery life.

    kobi February 1st, 2009
  56. :D :D Kobi and Leeve ASL plz? :D :D

    Lol February 1st, 2009
  57. Kobi, You should try using Nimbuzz at GSM mode, rather then Dual or UMTS, and switch back to 3G only for calls.
With the new version on GSM I can get upto 6 hours of nimbuzz on my 6120C, which is known to have a very weak battery span.
On DUAL I hardlly get 3 hours.

Regarding Hebrew it does work great most of the time, but it broke Facebook chat and only shows question marks instead of letters :(

    boo February 3rd, 2009
  63. @boo could you please specify if you can’t see avatars for Nimbuzz users or for other communities (Skype, MSN, Yahoo). The Nimbuzz contacts logged in from the computer will not have the avatar displayed on Nimbuzz mobile. We are going to fix this issue as soon as possible.

    Andi February 3rd, 2009
  64. I have a blackberry bold, and i just installed nimbuzz, when i make a call to one of my skype contacts, my phone automatically seems to be dialling a number… does that mean that it is taking from my minutes?? or is it solely using my data??

the call connects and everything, and the person i call on skype is using his computer. any ideas?

the number is one that seems to be just a gateway of sorts.

    Hollis February 5th, 2009
  65. @Hollis Your device is using a Java build of our application, so it is only available to make local dial-in calls.
This option makes a call to a local fixed line number, and then connects you. Your operator will only charge you for a local fixed line call (or deduct minutes as part of your monthly package).
Let us know if you have more questions

    Andi February 5th, 2009
  66. @Jen @ Liron The problem has been fixed! Please let us know if you still encounter any other issues!

  71. I was having huge battery drain after updating to the new version on my N95, the battery was getting hot and draining in less than 2 hours! It’s fixed now though :-) I removed Nimbuzz in Application Manager and reinstalled from get.nimbuzz.com Battery life with Nimbuzz great now, I can leave it on all day with no noticable impact on the battery. Maybe there’s a problem with upgrading using the “new update available” message? Anyway, if anyone else is still suffering battery drain, give this a go!

    Barry February 13th, 2009
  72. Now the mobil to mobile and the pc to pc avatar works but mobile to pc and pc to mobile dont works for me :-(
I hope it will be fixxed

    m4x0r February 15th, 2009
  73. @boo, thanks for all the information provided, your friends should be able send you messages when you are offline and you can read them when you are back online.
We will investigate the time stamp for offline messages and fix it as soon as we can.
Regarding the chat history, we do not support that yet, but we are studying the possibility to do it; we will announce it as soon as it is available.

@Barry, we are glad to hear that your battery life has been improved, we will take a look into the upgrading message to investigate that.

@m4×0r, we are working on it an we expect to have it solved as soon as possible.

    Regards!

  74. Regarding Chat History, Talkonaut has recentlly came out with a new version supporting chat history. You could check it out :)

  75. Exactly how do i access VoIP on Nimbuzz/make free calls? I installed it on my Nokia 6300, chat works fine but i can’t acees the call feature!

    Chris February 25th, 2009
  76. @BlackThorny Thanks for the suggestion; At the moment our application does not have chat history, the information or conversations you have will not be saved in our database and/or server, so you cannot retrieve or check them later.

Our developing team is thinking about improving this feature but we cannot fix a date for it yet.

@Chris, a list of SIP providers can be found here http://www.sipcenter.org/sip.nsf/html/Service+Providers.

So you can make your own account. After that:

You can go to Options > Settings > SIP Accounts to register an account.
After that you can place VoIP calls via the Phonebook.

Please note that SIP calling is at the moment only available for Symbian devices.

    Regards

    Nimbuzz Support February 25th, 2009
  77. Hi,

    Dear Nimbuzz support,
I think you do not to save in your database and/or server ( also that’s wrong for privicy so i never want to saving in server/database). But may be history data saved in our mobile phones/PCs???

I think there is a bug in symbian s60v2 version of Nimbuzz. When i write a text and add emoticon, nimbuzz cut space which is between text and emoticon. For ex.: i write: “hi, :) ” and i send it but it looks like: “hi,:)”

    Sorry for my english :(

    boo February 25th, 2009
  78. @boo At the moment our application does not have chat history, the information or conversations you have will not be saved in our database and/or server, so you cannot retrieve or check them later.

Regarding the emoticon issue we will look into it in order to solve it as soon as possible.

    sawad May 5th, 2009
  83. @sawad
If you are experiencing audio problems, the call is dropped, the voice is low, sound is chopped etc…
We do not proxy SIP Voice Streams, which means that Nimbuzz just connect s you to the Sip server and the audio and voice connection is managed by your SIP provider.

If you have this kind of issues, please contact your SIP Support Team and let them know.

It is possible only by using the Local Dial in method.
This option makes a call to a domestic fixed line number in your country (subject to availability), and then connects you to your contact.
Please let us know if you have more questions!

    Thanks for reporting to us.
What doesn’t work for you? The login to Nimbuzz or Nimbuzz calls?
If you mean the VOIP call, we do not support VOIP calling on Nimbuzz Mobile for Java devices like yours. This is not a Nimbuzz limitation but the device’s which does not have enough power to support internet calling. We will be pleased to implement it as soon as this limitation is solved.
Let us know if you have more questions!
    Kind regards.

  99. I use a BB Bold and have two queries.

    1. Nimbuzz takes a great deal of time to connect to the network most times that I open up the application. Sometimes it is so long that I just give up i.e. >10 mins. Is there a reason/fix for this?

    2. My network is O2 and I use a BlackBerry Unlimited UK tariff. Should I have a particular setting activated to ensure that I am not being charged for making calls, as WAP is free on my service, but APN is charged as extra, although I have admittedly never been clear on the distinction between the two.

    Many thanks

    Omar August 24th, 2009

    Thanks for letting us know.
Currently the Nimbuzz application doesn’t work on wap connections and probably that is the reason why you are not being able to connect.
Currently we don’t support VOIP calling on the Blackberry version.
Please make sure that on your access point selection you choose the wap connection and you will be able to connect on our wap version.

  101. Hi,

The BIG problem is that Nimbuzz consumes 3 times as much battery as Fring on my N82. Using a power consumption application to measure this it is embarrassingly clear how much power this application needs, regardless of wifi or 3G connection. Until fixed, this application in my mind fills no need on the market which is not already covered by Fring.

Hoping strongly for a Nimbuss improvement since I start to become too dependent on one single application (Fring).

Thanks for your feedback, and reporting this issue.
We are working in order to improve the battery life consumption. Please note that the battery consumption also depends on the usage you make of the application and your device.
It will drop faster if you are chatting on the chatrooms compared to placing a call or checking your friends’ status.
Let us know if you notice any strange behavior in regards to battery life consumption, such as: the battery gets warm, it drops really fast compared to a different Nimbuzz version (let us know which version you are using).
    Thanks & Regards
    @Safi
    Thanks for reporting to us.
We recommend you to update your version to the latest Symbian version which is 2.0 (3) to guarantee the latest issues fix.
Are you able to call via VOIP to Nimbuzz buddies or to another communities buddies?
Please check if your wifi/firewall is not blocking. Nimbuzz audio requires UDP ports open in the range: 15000 to 65000.
Please check it and let us know.
    Kind regards.

  108. How do i create a voIP account on nimbuzz form my cellphone?

    bugz133 September 13th, 2009
  109. @bugz133
    Thanks for your interest!
You can make VOIP calls to your IM buddies via Nimbuzz and for it you don’t need to configure anything. Just click on your IM contact and press the green button (call).

Do you want to configure your SIP account?
You can go to Options > Settings > SIP Accounts to register an account.
After that you can place VoIP calls via the Phonebook.

Please let us know if you have more questions.
    Kind regards.

  116. Hi!

A followup to my previous complaints in September on Nimbuzz battery lifetime on Nokia N82. With the new Nimbuzz version 2.1.0 it is now good and as low as one can expect sitting on Wifi. Great! I have begun to use it at home as default phone app and it last more than one day without recharge. However, 3G still has problems with loss of registration and huge power consumption in standby.

    Best,
    Jorgen

  118. When is Nimbuzz going to support SIP account on Blackberry Bold 9000?

    Thanks

    JJ November 16th, 2009
  119. @JJ
We currently do not support VOIP calling on Nimbuzz Mobile for Java devices like yours. This is not a Nimbuzz limitation but the device’s which does not have enough power to support internet calling. We will be pleased to implement it as soon as this limitation is solved.

Before, you were able to call to buddies because you were using the Dial up calling (non VOIP calling) which connects you to your buddy subject to your operator charges.
We disabled this feature to come up with an improved solution in the near future.

Let us know if you have more questions.

    Regards.

We currently don’t support VOIP calling on Java devices. This is not because of our limitation, but due to the device’s limitation itself.

We use the best capacity of each device but on Java devices unfortunately is still not possible to develop VOIP.

Please let us know if you have more questions!

    Kind regards.

  126. Hello,

I have a Nokia N95. I install Nimbuzz and all functions work expect that the sound quality on my N95 is extremely poor. I have a wireless internet connection and to see weather or not it was my connection tried the following:

I called via Skype a from the N95 to a laptop on my wireless network. The sound quality on the N95 was very poor but on the laptop was fine. I even stood next to the wireless access point with the N95 to test signal strength but it did not change,

Do you have any thoughts on this,

    Thanks

Your Nokia 6300 is Symbian S40, since it does not have the technical requirements the calling feature is not available.

We are not experiencing any issue with the SIP service.
If you are having audio issues when using a SIP provider, we recommend you to contact directly the SIP Provider Support Team.
We do not proxy the voice streams which means that we do not touch the voice, just connect you to the Sip server and the audio and voice connection is managed by your SIP provider.
