Nimbuzz update for iPhone: faster, improved UI and avatars

Good news for iPhone and iPod touch users: we just launched an update of Nimbuzz [Download Nimbuzz ].

Here are the new features:

Use your camera to update your display picture, or choose from your camera roll.
See the avatars of your buddies.
Auto-rotate feature, let’s you stay in landscape mode chat with wide screen keyboard.

We also fixed a few bugs, which is always good

Remember to turn your iPod Touch into an iPhone! Why? To make cheap calls over Wi-Fi via NimbuzzOut or your preferred VoIP provider. You can see your available NimbuzzOut credit directly on your Nimbuzz Dial-Pad. Just make sure to use the Apple headset with a microphone.

I think there’s a bug with long messages; Nimbuzz won’t display the complete message when the iPhone is being held vertically. I have to flip the phone and go back to the main screen before clicking on Messages again in order to see the incoming message.

we actually do not support Proxy connections.

Very nice, Nimbuzz team! I waited so long for the avatars and now Nibuzz is the best IM application on AppStore.. I’m waiting for push notification in fw 3.0.. will Nimbuzz be push-capable? It’s essential for me.. I use to run it in background (Backgrounder, Cydia..), but push notification are better..
PS: I’d like you can move avatars in the left side, instead of the IM client logo.. it is not so useful..

Hi ! i’ve already congratulate your work on the french web site so once again Congratulations !

What I wanted to say is, yes IM client logo could be smaller and switched with avatars place, that would be nice, but for me, using 4 or 5 IM client, keeping there logo is helping

Would we be able to use 2 accoumpt for the same IM client ? I have 2 AIM adresses and like to log the both in the same time

I still have 75% of my avatars which doesn’t update and still blank

Finally When does Nimbuzz come on OSX !!!!???

Whenever I receive long messages (I’d say about 200 characters or more) the iPhone application seems to have a couple of bugs when rendering the message.

When the phone is being held vertically (ie. the “normal” position), the complete message is not displayed. If I flip the phone to horizontal mode, I’m able to read more but I’m still experiencing that parts of the message gets cut off – and if I flip the phone back again then the message is not displayed on screen at all and I have to scroll in order to read the message.

If you want to reproduce the bug, just have someone send you a long message and try reading it on the iPhone. You should see for yourself

There’s also a HUGE margin within the text-area of the application – could you remove that? Just look at the Mail-application on the iPhone and copy that in terms of font size and margin!

Oh and, please add an easier way of removing messages – ie. swiping+tapping delete, just like every other app on the iPhone…

Hi,

I couldnt talk over VOIP from nimbuzz in my iPhone 3G, its shows that the call is connected and no sound from the other end. like once the call connected to the other party, the call duration starts immediatly and no response from other end!

I have contacted the nimbuzz support and until now no response for my issue. I am using freecall (www.voiparound.com) under teh SIP other facility. Just before the upgradation to the latest version, it was working excellent. I dont know what happened with the latest verison. more over the MSN & Yahoo voice chat are not working.

I thing its not yet to full tract as you have expected, lot to be improved, if you have any remedies, please let me know. I have contacted ur support team and no reply yet!

We have replied to your mail from yesterday, thanks for checking.
We are aware that Yahoo callings is not officially supported with our application, our Team is working in order to solve this issue soon.

Actually if you are calling to a MSN contact which is using Windows Live Messenger 2009 the call cannot go through; if you call other users with a lower version there won’t be a problem.

We are working in order to fix this issue soon.

In Regards of the SIP problem: Nimbuzz does not proxy SIP Voice Streams, which means that Nimbuzz just connects you to the Sip server and the audio and voice connection are managed by your SIP provider.

We suggest you to check with your Sip provider.

We are constantly working in order to improve the application and the features supported, thanks for your support.

I would like to notify that, those who are using the pervious version of Nimbuzz in iPhone 3G, have no problem with SIP calls, thats means the latest version has some problems with the sip.

So I think you need to advice your technical team to fix this problem. Its very clear taht with the same SIP settings in the OLD & LATEST versions of Nimbuzz in Iphone 3G, gives us two results. So its very clear than the old verion supports the other SIP settings and the latest version never supports any settings compinations.

I am much glad with teh voice clarity but sad about the error in SIP in Nimbuzz.

Its a no:1 program however. Congrads.

HI,

I just installed the nimbuzz on my Nokia E51. Was able to connect to my Skype Account. But, when I try to call my skype contact, the call goes through and says connected.
But, neither I could nor my friend could hear anything when connected through the skype. We are still able to chat with each other. But, the voice connection does not happen. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We recommend you to use the latest version due to technical reasons.
Let us know if you have an specific problem when using the latest version like: what exactly goes wrong? Do you get an error message ? Are his SIP settings not stored?

I tried the skype echo123 call. Even with that, I am just able to hear the ringing sound. But, after that, nothing is heard.

I tried with Gtalk, when I try to call a contact, I could hear the ringing sound. But, the contact does not get an incoming call. If he tries to call me, the call gets dropped immediately saying disconnected. Even with Gtalk, we are able to text chat with each other without any problem.

Does nimbuzz require any specific port enabled for skype, GTALK, etc.. voice connection ?
I am connecting on my workplace WiFi network and some TCP/UDP ports are blocked in our network.
Its strange though that the call ringing sound is heard and gets connected. But, not able to hear anything after that on both sides.

We do know about Freephonie and Free.fr but currently we do not support this provider since we both have different type of connecting.

We will investigate if in the future this could be possible.

@There are 2 possibilities causing yoru problem:

1, Connection, if you are on Wi-Fi it could be that the quality is not good enough to make the voice go trough. Can you try to connect in a different network or type of connection?

2,It could be possible if you are on your work network that some voice ports are blocked, can you ask the System administrator to open the port UDP 5222?

I assume Queralt’s response is for me.
There are others who actively use Skype for communications through the same Wifi network. They use it either on SkypePC or Skype-on-iPhone. So, the quality of Wifi should not be a problem.
Since there is no Skype for E51, I tried using the Nimbuzz and I have this strange problem of no audio.

I will check with the SysAdmin on the port 5222.
If this is something used by Skype, then, it should already be opened, bcoz, others actively use Skype in the same network.

guys i love nimbuzz on my iphone for 2 reasons, first cause it just works good, no bulls**t,congratulations to the developping, secound looks great, congratulations to the design team.
But now its just missing one little thing PUSH NOTIFICATIONS, i know that just pass 2 days since the iphone 3.0 realease but i would like to know if you will add this feature soon. this will make this app million stars app. that i could easier pay for it.

other little problem that im facing is the skype log in, it just cant login when i open the app i just insert my password again and works perfect, but i need to do it every time that i loged in.
any way thanks for this app, still great minds out there that knows how to do great things but keeping it simple.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I got a chance to try the Skype Test call on a different network and the “echo call” worked fine. So, atleast there are no problems with the nimbuzz installation on my E51.
So, I conclude it is something to do with the Wifi network at workplace. It is a long process to get that port enabled at my workplace and working on it.

hi realy impressed with Nimbuzz but 2 little problems 1 I cannot set up the dial up part – it keeps reporting my mob number is incorrect uk o2 on iphone tariff..also trying to set up truphone on add sip, but it wont like the settings. sets up lets me dial, then nothing else..sits there dialing and dialing.

In regards og adding truphone as a SIP account; Truphone it is not a SIP provider so it will not work if you try to register it.

I am using freespeech.co.uk. When I go into set up dial up Voip I can put in country then it asks for MY mobile number, soon as I put my mobile number in it says the phone number you have proved has an incorrect format. Please try again. so I have tried for my mobile number +447xxxxxxxxx +4407xxxxxxxxx 447xxxxxxxxx 4407xxxxxxxxx 07xxxxxxxxx 7xxxxxxxxx No combination will work, tried another sim in the phone too same results with using a diffrent telelphone number even tried my home number Im on 02? I tried also using voip service of Truphone and several other ones. None seem to like my mobile number

We recommend you to check with your SIP provider since the number format does seem to cause problems in other similar services as Nimbuzz.
It seems to be a problem with the SIP provider itself,.

I think the following are some of the reasons that are causing the no audio problem when the call connects :-

1- Natting problem , as i tried to make a phone call to another ip phone on the same lan and this was the only time i could get both ways audio, when trying to call any ip phone or number out side lan there is no voice just a connected call.

2- Registration Problem , as Nimbuzz loses connectivity with the server after few minutes and it doesn’t register again until you turn off and on the application, as for 90% of sip providers they require registration,i suggest a register expiry feature in sip settings.

as i read above , people were saying that these problems didnt happen with previous versions, is there any way i can downgrade the version of numbuzz on my iphone ?

your application is great, ill describe it as perfect when Sip is working smoothly.

Nimbuzz is great!!! But there’s one major flaw. It does not work on proxy connections. As a mobile app it should support proxy connections. Not doing that prevents many from using d best chat app as proxy connections are cheaper and sometimes even free. And given the minimal data usage for chatting such connections will help. Pls add proxy connection support.

Currently we do not proxy SIP Voice Streams, which means that Nimbuzz just connects you to the SIP server and the audio and voice connection is managed by your SIP provider.
The sound problems can also be caused by your network provider which can be blocking some sound ports of the net.
We recommend you to check directly with your provider.

As mentioned previously since we do not “touch” the voice streams of the SIP calling feature, we are not responsible for the issues related with the Voice quality and Sound.
The issue is not in our side and we cannot add or make any changes to solve it.

We currently do not support VOIP calling on Nimbuzz Mobile for Java devices like yours. This is not a Nimbuzz limitation but the device’s which does not have enough power to support internet calling. We will be pleased to implement it as soon as this limitation is solved.

Before, you were able to call to buddies because you were using the Dial up calling (non VOIP calling) which connects you to your buddy subject to your operator charges.
We disabled this feature to come up with an improved solution in the near future.

hey im running OS 3.0 on my ipod touch with version 1.4.0 nimbuzz and using a wifi connection but when i try logging in, it wont. It just says logging in but you could leave it for an hour and nimbuzz wont load. Please help.

iam using nimbuzz iPhone 3gs, I configured my voip on nimbuzz. But when iam trying to make calls it is showing voice calls are allowed only on wifi.

Please clarify my dout, can I make calls on 3g network. There no settings to select network.

At the moment the iPhone is blocked from the manufacture side (Apple) for VOIP calls under 3G (operator) connection, for this reason you are not able to call while on 3G on Nimbuzz. As soon as this limitation is solved from Apple’s side we will implement calling on 3G on Nimbuzz.

I tried to make calls using 3g, but Nimbuzz says that calls only can be done using WiFi. With the Nimbuzz in my Nokia N97 I can make calls using 3G network, but with my iPhone 3G and Nimbuzz I can’t.

We are changing and improving that often, so we suggest you to try again to register your phone number in case you get an error and verify as well the country you choose.

We are aware that there are some trouble with some countries, and we are working in order to solve this issue.

If you continue having problems with this option, please let us know which is your country and provider do you have.

Your phone number will be also useful to test if we can register it.

All of my contacts are nimbuzz contacts and i have no idea why. i have myself added and i can see mine, just not anyone elses. Half of the people i know have the same problem, but the other half doesnt. i dont have a skype account or any other added accounts, but i typed one in for skype anyway. Now i everytime i delete it, it always comes back. Maybe this is the reason? ive deleted the app and downloaded it again. ive also re-added my contacts. wats going on?

hii nimbuzz , i’m stay at dubai and i used,or can said download your software to my i phone 3Gs. but the problem why can not hear the voice when the ring stop even my balance start nimbuzz cut even i can not hear my mom voice (other side at indonesia) even the call to connect other side i can hear but the voice it’s not work.. wait your reply thank you

Could you let us know if you were calling using NimbuzzOut or just calling IM contacts when this happened?
Please send us the following info via mail support@nimbuzz.com so we can investigate this:
Your Nimbuzz username (e.g. Username123)
Nimbuzz client and version in use (e.g. Symbian 2.2)
Destination number and country that you are calling or trying to call (e.g. Spain +34957989709)
Date and time when you experienced this problem (e.g. 25/07/2009 10:30 AM)
Any error message you received, and when this message appeared. (e.g. Call Unavailable)

When I donwnload Nimbuzz on my iPod touch, I try and flip the screen to rotate it. It won’t rotate.

Could you let us know which Nimbuzz version are you running?
Please check on your device settings that you have the option rotate enabled.

Does nimbuzz for iphone support proxy over wifi now? Actually i use it on ipod touch and at my place the net connection is via proxy.
