Nimbuzz Poll results: 46% of people use SIP(VoIP) calling to reach families and friends abroad
Results are in from the latest Nimbuzz blog poll (see question and results above). Thank you for your time and for your votes!
The results show that 46% of you use VoIP/SIP to connect with families and friends abroad, while 31% use it to call people from your home country. Also 14% call home while abroad and 9% use it to reach business contacts.
SIP/VoIP makes it easy for everyone to call abroad more cheaply, and we also have some interesting numbers to back this up: last year, Skype, one of the biggest VoIP players in this space, was the largest provider of international phone calls in the world. Competing against some of the biggest mobile operators in the world, Skype achieved something extraordinary by opening a new road to all the other providers.
For a long time we have relied on operators to make international calls and and to set the fees we need to pay. We had limited options and choice but VoIP is redefining our possibilities.
A fixed telephone line no longer implies that you have a standard operator. Thanks to the internet, a fixed telephone can be a SIP phone as well and you can choose your provider from a list of hundreds of international SIP providers. The same goes for the mobile phones – with a standard internet connection or roaming over free Wi-Fi, you can benefit from free and uber cheap calls using Nimbuzz.
Now you can call all your friends for free, anywhere in the world, using Nimbuzz on your mobile. You can also call landlines and mobile phones all over the world using our SkypeOut integrated solution or one of our SIP partners.
