Nimbuzz Poll results: Nokia Maemo leading the way – 43% in favor

I whish Nimbuzz would supportResults are in from the latest Nimbuzz blog poll (see question and results above). Thank you for your time and for your votes!

The results show clearly that Nokia Maemo is one the most popular operating systems around – with 43% of your votes it leads the list of most requested operating systems to be supported.  Close to each other Linux, Symbian and Blackberry OS are your second, third and forth choices.

I can understand your enthusiasm for the Nokia Maemo, I recently played with a Nokia N900 and I must say it looks SLICK! It’s like discovering Symbian for the first time after a Nokia 3310 mobile. Yes … the old days! The panorama desktop, the innovative dashboard and the new browser feel just right. I’m curious to see what the Symbian experts think about it :D .

The poll results also show that there are a lot of Open Source fans among you which is great! Linux is second option in our top and this can be explained by the growing numbers of Netbooks and notebooks that run on Ubuntu. The Ubuntu UI has evolved a lot in the last few years and besides being free (which always sounds interesting to me :D ) is much more user friendly and intuitive than it used to be.

Meanwhile, until we will support the above operating systems remember you can use Nimbuzz on your PC/Mac , your mobile (Symbian, iPhone, Android, Java, Window Mobile) or via Nimbuzz Web or Nimbuzz Wap .

Curious where the votes came from? Check out the voting map below!

A new Poll is now live in the right sidebar of the Nimbuzz Main Blog:   “I use Nimbuzz because: ” . Go ahead and vote. Tell your friends to vote too!

  2. The good news about Maemo & Linux & Symbian is…. the next time Nimbuzz create apps for Maemo, it could be compiled to Symbian sis & Linux binary too. with only a little tweak… yeahh!!!!

  4. I think the Symbian UIQ option is missleading.
I kind of believing Nimbuzz were refering to the DEAD OS of UIQ instead of Symbian.

If Nimbuzz put Symbian instead, or NATIVE Symbian client, I think it would be the second or the first in the vote result.

  9. I’m worrying about what u’re saying queralt because I noticed that you released a BB version although maemo won the vote by 25%. It’s been a long time that we are waiting for you guys, pliz don’t give us fake hope so that we can see whether we couldn’t turn to other multiple IM providers.

  15. I hope Nimbuzz see their way to support the Nokia N900. The best piece of phone equipment out there in years, but Pidgin is the only app so far anywhere close to handling chat capabilities, and it’s less than adequate as it is even before adding Facebook support. Adding Nimbuzz to it would round it off.

  25. Sorry but I hear you considering support for N900 since what like October 2009? We are 2 months away from a whole year since the consideration for Maemo. Clearly it has a huge demand from your poll results.

I can pretty much predict what’s going to happen.. Maemo is going to phase out anyways and be replaced with MeeGo so are we going to hear that you will consider making it for MeeGo instead of Maemo then. Great!

Anyways your consideration has taken too long I am afraid.

We are constantly working on new releases and improving our services and application.
We want to provide a quality product, and we will not launch a version for every Operating system available if we the end product is not good enough for our users.
We are researching the possibilities of implementing a compatible version for this Operating System, but we cannot promise more further than that.
    Thanks for your understanding.
