Android e-readers could support mobile chat and VoIP!

Mobile Chat and VoIP on E reader

Yesterday I was reading that the Barnes & Noble Nook dual-screen e-reader is now official.

Hmm, this sounds interesting! Well … it gets even more interesting and relevant to Nimbuzz since the new e-reader is built on Android O.S., so it should run Android apps natively, turning the Nook into more of a computing device than a standalone reader.

I’m not familiar with the restrictions of the operating system on the e-reader but it would be great to install Nimbuzz on one of these. Imagine, when you take a break from reading your favorite book or daily news you can have a quick chat with your friends :D .

Though there are still some limitations for VoIP on Android at the moment I’m sure that in the future this will no longer be the case and… then your e-reader could transform into an “uber” social media tool with applications like Nimbuzz that connect you to all your friends from the most popular social networks and IM communities.

But until that happens, we invite you to download and explore Nimbuzz for Android instead :D !

What do you think: could the e-readers be an alternative for your mobile phone in the future? Let us know in the comment section.

  1. No I think it has to go the other way around: e-readers must come to cellphones. I don’t think anyone will be too interested in carrying around somewhat large e-readers.

Although if they want to increase market appeal, then they should let the readers have many purposes, because really, who’s going to carry around a screen solely for reading e-books? Screens in cells are getting so big that they can be e-readers as well.

  2. Riiiiight, cell phones … eye strain rings any bells? This is exactly why there will be e-books, because it uses E-ink, it is much more comfortable and hell you one charge can last for a long-long time.

On the other hand building a cell in an e-book is possible but not necessary, cell phones are moving towards the universal media device, although android brings an interesting and more perspective concept. So my vision of the future is a universal assistant device with full online integration. All other specialized devices will undoubtedly have a market niche.

  5. (For all OS)
However, it would be nice if nimbuzz was built in
    - e-reader, mini browser
    - Music Player, A nimbuzz store(where you can update smileys, and stuff)
Because i heard that many people, while chatting, they listened to music.
Also many people are so bored with nimbuzz that they want a useful features, like e-reader or mini browser. Sometimes they get so bored, and start flooding. The nimbuzz store would encourage to update smileys, or download ringing tone. Bit like nokia Mosh store.
A Nimbuzz Care Center would also be nice. Where people can report any incidence, like crash, flooding, errors or make request.
A Nimbuzz Gaming Center would be most welcome also. Having mini games, flash games, multiplayer, challenge other users and stuff like that.
A Nimbuzz Community Center, would probably be useful. Where users can browse for other users, depending on age, gender, location or whatsoever.
I dunno if thats possible, but i notice on the internet, some free ebook sites. Maybe nimbuzz can associate with them, and make it available. Many users would love this feature. If they have nothing to do, or if they don’t want to chat. Atleast they can read.
Moreover, why not integrating a mini browser for Wikipedia. Maybe that sound stupid, but it will help users to make research. Whatever i mention, might sound absurd, but it just some useful ideas i’m sharing. Perhaps these features are already in development or maybe one day nimbuzz might consider it. Yet the size of the software would increased.
