Without a doubt this has been an Android week so far!

First the launch of the new Droid phone from Verizon; now the announcement of the Google Maps GPS navigation app – everybody is hyped to find out more info about this hot news! How important were the announcements?  Looking at the share price for Garmin and TomTom, we can see that the new Android-powered free navigation software is already making a difference and could be a “game changer”.

Curious as to why? Android Guys have a list of reasons why the Google Maps Navigation is better than other GPS alternatives.

A few days ago we were looking at the Gartner report that predicted a huge market growth of the Android powered mobiles – up to 12%  by the end of 2012.

It seems they could be right-with similar applications and slick new phones, Android looks set to experience significant growth!

In my opinion, the only thing that needs some work in order to match the iPhone experience is the UI. Rumors have it that the next Android update, the éclair, will be doing just that!

While I’m looking forward to playing with the new Google Maps Navigation app on my new HTC Magic, I’m already enjoying other great Android apps, like Nimbuzz. Nimbuzz lets you chat and interact with all your friends from WLM, Facebook, Yahoo, Google Talk and many more IM communities and Social Networks, all from one simple to use and to understand contact list.

You can find Nimbuzz in the Android Market with a simple search or if you have a barcode scanner  app you can scan the image below.
