As we get closer and closer to 27th January, Apple-related news and rumors are flooding the blogs. Some of them are really funny!
So while everybody is waiting for the iSlate, Vodafone UK announced that they have sold 100,000 iPhones since putting them on sale last week. Pretty impressive if you think that the iPhone was available in UK for a while now. Also, this shows that most people don’t expect a new iPhone to be unveiled on Jan 27th, but rather an O.S. update.

Scandinavians have another reason to enjoy their mobile phones/devices even more: it looks like that in the next 3 years the mobile operators in Denmark and Sweden will boost the 3G mobile data download rate from 21Mbps to 84Mbps! Yes you read that right 84Mbps
.
Back in June I remember being impressed about the 21Mbps download speed promised to Finnish people by one of the operators, but now that seems “outdated” when we think about a speed 4 times faster.

The coolest Networking Event in San Francisco is back !
Since our last Buzzworthy event was a total success, we decided to have another one.
As always, our aim is to bring together developers, CEOs, media/bloggers, and the marketing agency/PR side in a casual setting where everyone can profit from making connections. We want to thank our sponsors very much for helping us put the event together: Getjar, Motally, Mplayit, Smaato, and SparkPR.
Media get their feast on talking with app developers and CEO s, agencies get to understand the mobile space and get new clients and developers, start-ups get to talk to media, and the best of all…. we all get a break from our busy schedules
.
Your opinion counts and now you it’s time to use it by nominating Nimbuzz as the Best Mobile IM client in the “2010 Reader’s Choice Awards” on About.com.
All you have to do is click here , fill in your name and email address and write Nimbuzz wherever you think we deserve to be nominated! We would recommend Best IM Client Overall
*cough cough*.

Here is the 2nd part of our blog post from yesterday…
Another important highlight of this journey in my opinion was the big success of the e-Readers (with Kindle leading the way). This was important not because of the O.S. (well at least not until we saw them running on Android) but because of the shape of the device. Many people liked the “tablet ” shape and the fact it was easy to use.
The latest news about the Slate PC and Apple’s iSlate made me think about the evolution of internet-enabled mobile devices.
I guess that everything started with the “old” laptop a while ago. Back then things were pretty simple: you got one and used it to go online, chat, play and more. It was just a mobile version of your PC, less powerful and maybe a little bit more expensive at the time.
Then things started to change and from my point of view there were a few milestones in the mobile internet industry that I would like to discuss.
The first of its kind was the launch of the iPhone, then most of the people realized that the mobile phone can be used not only for calling and SMS but with access to the internet it becomes a mini laptop, powerful enough to meet a lot of your demands.
We’ve just spotted a really interesting battery concept over at Engadget that we wanted to share with you:
Designed by Song Teaho & Hyejin Lee this new battery could be a very handy solution while on the go and far from your charger or a plug. In theory you remove the battery from your mobile, put it on your finger and start spinning. The designers estimate 130 twirls will give you two minutes of talk time but of course there is still a lot of work until we are going to see this in stores.
