And again good news for the Symbian users: we have a hot new Nimbuzz update ready for download !

Here are brand new features in the Nimbuzz for Symbian 2.3 :

• New call screen – with the display picture of your contact and with more information about the call
• Mute the microphone during calls
• In the twitter tab the “#hashtag” is a link - this will 0pen a Twitter search about that term directly by clicking on the #hashtag
• DTMF for touch screen mobiles – touch-keypad to dial a number and keypad for in-call DTMF tones
• Disable display pictures in chatrooms
• Support for WAP access points and other limited access points

The new version Nimbuzz for Mac is out and ready to download! Well, it’s been a while since our last update but we are back with some really nice & brand new features.

One of the best new features of new Mac version is without a doubt the NimbuzzOut calling. This means that now, besides chatting and calling all your IM friends for free, you can now make really cheap intentional calls right from your iMac, MacBook or Mac Mini – saving a lot of money on your monthly telephone bill. It was only yesterday that we published a blog post asking everybody to join us in our journey towards 30M downloads from Getjar and help us get there faster than predicted! Guess what? We did it!!

Although we thought we will to hit that milestone in 2 -3 days, thanks to your help we managed to make a huge jump and get there in only one day!

Curious what’s new? Here are the highlights of  Nimbuzz for Android 1.4:

• Swipe between chats – a new useful way to view all your open chats, just move you finger across the chat window to see the other open windows
• Auto-start option – never miss a chat, now you can choose to open Nimbuzz automatically every time you start up you mobile
• Flashing LED light – will notify you of every new chat message or missed call. Pretty useful when your mobile is in the silent mode
• Faster sign in -  this should be noticeable from the 3rd login – and it will!!
• UI optimization for Nexus One & Motorola Droid/Milestone
• 9 new languages – Chinese Simplified, Russian, Portuguese, Polish, Italian, German, French, Dutch and Spanish

This is an event where Brazilian and European entrepreneurs and investors will debate the growing interest in the emerging economy that signifies a huge market for web applications and Internet startups.

Dick van der Kwaak,  Nimbuzz VP of Business Operations will be present at the event and will talk about our experience in working with the Brazilian market so far. We have opened an office in Sao Paolo in 2008 and ever since we focused on PR and partnerships deals to enable Nimbuzz to become the best choice for all the Brazilian people.

So far, Marcelo (pictured below) our main man in Brazil has done a great job on positioning Nimbuzz as a top brand in Brazil. He did that by managing a brilliant blog, representing Nimbuzz at local events and spreading the word among the young Brazilian marketeers.

eMarketer released a new interesting report on the growth of mobile subscribers in BRIC countries (Brazil / Russia / India / China). According to their analysis by 2014 BRIC will have over 2Billion mobile subscribers. Pretty amazing, right?

To put that in context:  there will be more mobile Internet users in China in 2010 than the entire population of the US.

Here is the split by country:

• Over 200 million mobile subscribers in both Brazil and Russia by 2014
• 853 million subscribers in India by 2014
• 1.3 billion (yes billion) subscribers and 957 million mobile Internet users in China by 2014

Just a week ago we talked about VoIP in 2013: trends and predictions and how mobile VoIP users will be reach 288 million by the end of 2013. Today we come back with another interesting story about mobile world: trends and prediction in worldwide smart phone application market.

Getjar published an industry study which looks at the evolution of this market in the next 3 years. Here we found some really interesting key-points we would like to share with you:

• App economy will increase 7 times in the next 3 years
• 7 billion app downloads globally in 2009, Asia accounting for 37%
• 50 billion app downloads are expected  in 2012, representing a YOY growth of 92%
• Revenues will grow from 4b $ in 2009 to 17,5b $ in 2012
• Middle East & Africa will overtake North America to become the world’s largest market for mobile app revenues by 2012

For us this means good news, with more people downloading and using mobile applications in the next 3 years  we expect that the Nimbuzz community will grow as well . We also have a list with a few  key indicators that can confirm that :
