Nokia C5 – Simple, Social, Affordable
Yesterday, Nokia unveiled the new Nokia C5 mobile, which I would describe in just 3 words : Simple, Social, Affordable.
After talking about WM7 and Symbian 3 last week, it seemed quite impossible for me to think that I would like another S60 mobile so much, but life is full of surprises … isn’t it? This mobile looks extremely good and I find the stainless steel really cool and well polished.
The new mobile (which is actually a new series of mobiles) enters the Nokia lineup in a very good position. Yesterday Nokia have announce that the Nokia Ovi store is now seeing 22 app downloads per second and from the latest Admob report we can see that Symbian OS remains the most popular operating system in Southeast Asia and accounted for 77% of smartphone requests in Q4 2009.
The new mobile will be available in the second half of 2010 in Europe, Southeast Asia, China and the Middle east and it will be a great and cheap “home” for all the OVI apps. With applications like Nimbuzz, that are already surpassing 1 million downloads at the moment, without the C series available yet, I predict great times ahead for OVI
!
Here are the key features of the new mobile:
- 2.2″ display
- 3.2 megapixel camera
- 3.5 mm A/V connector
- FM radio
- 12 hours of talk time
- GPS
- Ovi Maps
- microSD card slot
- price - €135 ($182) unsubsidized
Another cool social feature is that you will be able to see status updates directly from Facebook friends and update your own Facebook status and share your location with Ovi Maps 3.0.
With the announcement of the new C series Nokia also explained the naming conventions for its four smartphone product families. The C series are low-end smartphones, the E series phones are for business users, the X series is for youth and music, and N series represents the most advanced models.
And if you are already looking for best mobile messenger for your C5, don’t worry you will be able to install Nimbuzz on your brand new C5, which is the Must Have Social Networking app of the year , as the OVI users decided
.
