Google Gesture search for Android 2.0 or above

Google gesture search

Here is a cool new app for your Android mobile: Google Gesture Search.

Gesture Search from Google Labs lets you search your Android-powered device by drawing alphabet gestures on the touch screen. It allows you to quickly find a contact, a bookmark, an application, or a music track from hundreds or thousands of items, all in one place. Currently the app is available only for Android 2.0 and above but I hope the rest of us will be able to use it as well, soon!

When I first heard about it I got really excited, it sounded like wherever you are in the mobile phone menu/homescreen you would magically start drawing letters on the screen and you would get the results on the fly. Well it’s not like that, you actually have to install the app and every time you want to search something you will open the app and start writing, still cool but… not as I imagined it.

I think it would be great if it could somehow be integrated with the operating system in a non-intrusive way.

If you want to see it in action check the movie bellow, we got via Android Central (good to know they are using Nimbuzz :P )

So can you find Nimbuzz on your mobile using this app :D ?

And a bonus, here is a nice comic about “Life before Google (search)” :D :
