The latest mobile prototype from Motorola has been  misplaced in a corporate Verizon gym in Washington. Lucky for us, somebody found the “Shadow” and took a picture of it before retuning it to it’s rightful owners [guess the iPhone 4G was a pretty good lesson for everybody ].

Great news everyone! Our friends from the OVI blog just published the Top Nokia OVI apps and according to the community Nimbuzz is the second most popular application! Yay!

A few days ago they have used their social media channels(Ovi on Twitter, Ovi on Facebook) to ask everybody “What are your favourite Ovi Store Apps and why?”. Now the result are in and the top 3 selections – not including Ovi Maps, which is a really good choice of its own – are:

• Gravity
• Nimbuzz
• Snaptu

Only a few months after we have won “Must Have Social Networking app of the year” award in the “OVI Daily App” awards this is yet again another indicator that we are doing a good job and listen to your feedback.

We are really happy to let you know that Nimbuzz is nominated for a Meffys Award, in the Social Networking category… again ! This is the second year in a row that we have been nominated as one of the most innovative mobile apps.

MEF (Mobile Entertainement Forum) is organizing the 7^th edition of the Meffys awards, one of the most prestigious competitions for the mobile industry. The nominees were selected after four days of judging by representatives from over 45 companies, publications and analyst houses. You can see all the nominees here.

Android is BIG, how big you may ask? Well, big enough to surpass the iPhone sales in the first quarter of 2010 in US .

Yes, that was really good news for Google and Android fans and now Eric Schmidt unveils even more good news: the company’s partners are shipping 65,000 Android phones daily, up 5000 from February this year. That is a nice increase and big achievement for them. Congrats guys!

And talking about the Android mobiles, I thought would be nice to share with you my top 5 best apps for Android phones. I currently use these applications on my HTC Magic, but i have also tried them on the Nexus One, Motorola Droid and HTC Desire (and all worked fine).

Yes, that definitely  sounds good.

With the announcement of the new HTC EVO 4G we can only think of how great it will be to make free VoIP calls over 4G . The new Evo will be available in the US stores from June 4th at only 199$, with a monthly subscription from Sprint. This comes just a few days before Apple’s WWDC 2010 on 7 June, where they will (hopefully) unveil the official iPhone 4G. So in just a matter of weeks we will have 2 handsets capable of making VoIP calls over 4G. Pretty cool, right?

While we were looking at iPad alternatives last week, this week BGR has an exclusive lead on a new device, the BlackBerry tablet.

Will this be a game changer? Could very well be, since RIM dominates the business smartphone segment and the new tablet could be a complementary device for your smartphone, designed to increase your productivity. To be honest I am curios to see if they will position themselves in the business category or if they will choose to enter into Apple’s consumer space.

Although we are pretty enthusiastic about this,  we must remember it’s just a rumor so far.

And from all the rumors we heard read here are the expected features of the  BlackBerry tablet:

As you might remember we have previously discussed mobile trends and predictions on the Nimbuzz blog. We have looked into the smartphone application market share and its evolution and the VoIP predictions for 2013. Now we come back with some more interesting numbers gathered from around the web.

The International Data Corporation recently released it’s  Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker report on and here are the takeaways:

• 54.7 million units shipped in the first quarter of 2010 (1Q10), up 56.7% from 1Q09
• 21.7% growth of the overall mobile phone market
• 18.8% of all mobile phones shipped in 1Q10 are smartphones, up from 14.4% in 1Q09

As the guys from Cellular-news point out: “The smartphone market’s growth is impressive too when contrasted to the 38% growth in the fourth quarter, which is typically the strongest of the year.”

IDC predicts that 2010 will be a year of large-scale consumer adoption of smartphones and I think they are right. I mean a lot of what is happening in the mobile industry points to this. In my opinion there are 5 important signs that support this idea:
