Nokia announces affordable bike cell phone charger

Nokia Bike charger

Great news, Nokia announced the Bicycle Charger Kit! This is a gadget which captures free and eco-friendly energy from bicycling to power your Nokia mobile on the move.  The device will cost around 15euro and for a 10 minute bike ride at 6mph (10kph) will produce enough power for 28 minutes of talk time or 37 hours of standby. Not bad.

The kit is aimed at developing countries and places where electricity is hard to find, but that does not mean that countries like The Netherlands will not go for it :P .  In fact for people living here this will be a must have. [Cycling in the Netherlands]

In my case for example, I use Nimbuzz all day to be available to all my friends and sometimes I forget to charge my mobile  during the night. This means that in the morning my battery might be empty and I don’t have time to charge it before I go to work but since I bike every day to the Nimbuzz office the Nokia Bicycle Charger Kit could help me a lot.  I’m really looking forward to get my hands on it.

What do you think? Would you use a device like this? Do people use to bike in your country?

Your device is using a Java version of Nimbuzz which does not support the calling feature.
