WINNER! Nimbuzz crowned Best Symbian App #getties

Now there is no more doubt that Nimbuzz is the best app for your Symbian mobile. This was proven before when Nimbuzz won Nokia’s “Must Have Social Networking app of the year” Ovi award and when OVI users voted us as their second favorite Nokia app :D .

Now we have yet another reason to celebrate. We just won the Best Symbian App at Gettie Awards 2010 !! Thanks for all your support guys!  Nimbuzz had to compete with 7,000 apps from more than 100 countries so this is quite an achievement!

Organized by Getjar, the second biggest mobile app store, with over 1Billion downloads and 74,774 apps and games available, in conjunction with the MobileBeat conference, the Getties is the mobile app world’s equivalent of the Oscars.

We promise to update the post with pictures from the event as soon as Daniel sends them in. He was present at the event and was proud to receive the prize for us  and thank our users, Developers and GetJar for it :D !

  4. congrats to nimbuzz and the whole nimbuzz crew,is realy a great app.but i made a few abservations and have a veiw complain to make.there was an update on nimbuzz not too long ago,and i noticed that this new version was making huge charges when 3g connection was being made unlike the previous version..that one made charges too but not as much as this latest version..so i think something should be done about that..but that takes nothing away,nimbuzzz is still a great app.comgrats once again

  6. Sure Nimbuzz is among the best ones for Symbian and I congrat you for that.
    But till 5 days ago Nimbuzz for sure was not even the best IM+VoIP Symbian app. Nimbuzz was the runner up.
    Nimbuzz was the fancy one, but it lacks muscle, core features: NO automatic connection handling and NO manual voice codec option. SERIOUS users cannot go without those.

    But right now, despite its current core weakness, Nimbuzz is the best IM+VoIP Symbian app just because the first position lost a major feature: Fring does not support Skype chat/voice/videocall anymore.

    But the point is: till when??? If Nimbuzz for some reason looses this same feature it will again go down to the runner up position. At least in SERIOUS users point of view and not on eventual fancy driven ones.

    And it seems Nimbuzz is just about to loose that. Or am I wrong? See bellow what I’ve just posted in your official forum:

    It is public notorious that Skype and Fring are fighting last days. Fring says Skype has cowardly blocked it. Skype says Fring is a liar.

    Skype in Nimbuzz is getting worse and worse last days. Lots of people are claiming they can not sing in to Skype. Sometimes when we can, after a few minutes or hour the connection frequently gets down and Nimbuzz canot automatically recover it. Nimbuzz have been asked about that in its forum but not official answer till now.

    So the question is:

    Will Skype turn into a pumpkin in Nimbuzz just like it did in Fring??? Have it already??? What are the risks???

    Does Nimbuzz/Skype have any sort of formal/informal contract that reduce the risks of all Nimbuzz users just not have Skype anymore tomorrow morning within their Nimbuzz communities?

    I’m asking this for myself and for the currently 500 Brazilian users that are members of the biggest Nimbuzz forum we have down here (I’m its owner). We expect and thank you for a not rhetoric reply as soon as possible.

    Thanks for your long comment.
    First of all, the voting/elections of the Getties Awards were decided previously to Fring removed the Skype integration, so it is not accurate to state that the award was given cause Fring removed that component of their application.
    In regards of users getting disconnected from Skype and not reconnecting; we are aware of this and we will work in order to increase the timing you can be connected without problems.
    About if Nimbuzz has or not an official agreement, we do not have it but in case of need we will negotiate with them that possibility.
    In any case we will inform our users of any change.

    Do you mean that the use of Nimbuzz consumes more data transfer compared to a previous version?
    We do not charge you for data transfer, your provider does.
    We recommend you to check directly with them.
    Note that the data consumption depends also on the way you use the application, as more feature you use more the application will consume.

Yes it’s good to hear that Nimbuzz has owned it.And hope you guy’s will do something wot Wilson has mentioned.cz it’s really annoying.And it’s important to ask when you gonna add video chat facility for nimbuzz users.any how like to thank ol the crew members for providing us a great freewere to connecting people. ;)

  18. Interesting Management this company has got, letting their staff relax a little by playing games. However since the Wii is played with a motion controller, Microsoft will soon announced the price of their Camera Motion Controller, name Kinect. No need to use remote or anything. Because with this device, You are the controller. I hope you guy will enjoy it someday. High definition Graphics with Motion Control.

    The Nimbuzz Forum is NOT abandoned, the forum is a place for users to share their experiences and exchange tips and comments.
    It is not a life-support tool for users to get answers, indeed we have provided many support help there, but this is not its main purpose, since it is supposed to be filled with user’s content.
