Last week we discussed the advantages of Touchscreen vs QWERTY vs T9 and which would be the best choice. As @cycnus very well observed in the comments,  there’s a new concept from Nokia that should be included in our discussion, the Nokia x3 touchscreen and T9 combo.

I already had the chance to test the new Nokia X3 :D and I liked it.

It felt natural to switch between the keypad and the touchscreen. Typing on the keypad was pretty fast, which was proof that all the years I spent learning the keypad were still paying off :)   The keypad to me was still intuitive and comfortable to use.

When navigating trough the menu I touched the screen instinctively to confirm an action, not because I was prompted to. In other words it was very easy for me to adapt to the phone’s advantage of getting the best of both worlds.

The learning period was really short.

The X3 will be priced at $161 (125 Euros).

  2. dis ph looks good. whn i switched 4rm nokia 5800 to E71 i was tapping E71′s screen to select somthing. But now with dis ph u can do both according to ur wish.
    But i think instead of T9 it shud be qwerty because it completely changes d way u type in ur phone.
    so dis phone is a good option but i m waiting 4 touchscreen+qwerty. Because browsing ll be lot easier

  3. Once i experimented touchscreen with LG kp500. got heartburn from senseless operating, felt like i am holding a mirror and rubbing it using fingers all the time. So sold it in 3 days and brought Nokia E63, which is fantastic phone, My recomendation is, if you are power users and like beauty and prefer romance than dont go for touchscreen phones. Even if you buy you will not enjoy it.

    No, since it uses a Java version of Nimbuzz it does not support the calling feature.

    according to nokia specs, it have SIP support. It might be some native S40 Nokia apps, not nimbuzz SIP support.

    I bet nokia have the other ’3′ such as C3 or E3 that have touch screen with QWERTY on their sleeves.

  12. @abuzar: It has built in SIP VoIP support so you can use any SIP provider you want to make VoIP calls.

    @queralt escrich: X3-02 is using Series40, so nothing to do with Symbian or S60.

    Nimbuzz provides the calling feature on S60 devices, since X3 is S40 the calling feature (including SIP) is not provided.

  18. Hi,

    I would like to do skype or voipbuster calls with x3-O2 using the Wi-Fi connection.

    Skype is not available for X3-O2 right? But I saw a tutorial to install voip with the SIP connection.

    The Nokia X3 is using a Java version of Nimbuzz, we do not provide calling on Java based devices.

  20. i have used touch,qwerty and T9. there is only one simple dedudction that i made.

    If u havve to type in a lot… Then qwerty will always b de top.
    If multimedia is the priority and if internet browsing is high, then touc wud be much better

    i personally switched from iphone to nokia e72 as i type a lot.

    If it comes to internet browsing…then iphone really gives u an amazing experience

  21. Dear Nimbuzz,

    I am a nimbuzzer since the past 2 Years and have been mainly using it for VoIP Service. My main criteria for Buying a new Phone is that the phone should be supporting Nimbuzz VoIP.

    When will Nimbuzz launch VoIP support for X3-2 ????????, this is delying me from buying the Phone..

    Please Help :(

    The X3 uses a Java version of Nimbuz which does not include the calling fetaure.
    we do not have plans to implement that feature at the moment.
