    Let us know

  27. will restore xmpp-jabber gateway?
Will improve ‘much awaited’ gtalk voice call codec? (speex 8kbps)
will include gtalk file transfer? (xmpp-jingle)
    will include gtalk/xmpp video call?

Or gona develop some new propietary feature?

    glococo December 7th, 2010
  28. @gloco
    In regards of your questions:
-We dont have plans to enable back jabber in the near future
-we are working in order to improve the voice feature, are you facing any specific issue in regards of calling? which one? let us know
-file transfer is enabled depending on the Nimbuzz client, which version do you use?
-we aim to support video call in the future, stay tuned to our blog for more related news.
    Regards

Thanks you so much for your reply. My only wish is to help you so you can help us.
    1) Sorry to hear that.(xmpp is the future, put a spoke in the wheel will only make the change slower)
    2) XMPP gTalk Jingle support is bad. Speex (opensource voice streaming protocol standard defined by xmpp.org ) is not well supported (8kbps use gmail plugin), latency is very bad. I recommend you to update your libraries to the last version: Speex 1.2rc1. (works much better) http://www.speex.org/
    3) gTalk (xmpp) File transfer is not enabled (XEP-0047)
    4) Nimbuzz_to_XMPP(gTalk) video will be awesome. (hope do not develop another propietary videocall solution like your near competitor)

With all my best intentions, I wish you the best.
(do not play evil, like oracle) :) )

    glococo December 7th, 2010
  30. @glococo

    * File Transfer would be much better indeed if Nimbuzz supported the standard xmpp jingle one.
    * It is a pitty Nimbuzz doesnt have Jabber anymore. (Gartner confirmed it is the way to go for IM like SMTP is for email)
    * If Nimbuzz add support for GTalk Video, they certainly will use standard protocols. (GTalk is the one that doesn’t use the Standard Jingle)

    Although I disagree on:

    * Google Jingle has nothing to do with Speex. They simple have support for it. Nimbuzz uses iLBC Codec for GTalk calls, which has better quality for mobile.
    * Speex is not an standard defined by xmpp.org.
    * Nimbuzz GTalk quality is really good and does not transcode any audio, it is always natural quality from GTalk.

    Thiago December 7th, 2010
  31. @Thiago,
THank you so much for your reply, I appreciate.
(I read your blog from time to time)

If Nimbuzz will be improving XMPP, I will be giving all all all my support, and also donating. Unfortunately that seem no to be the path. When gTalk Voice&Video arrive on Android 2.3 or 3, everything gona change, and if the top mobile multi-IM clients out there continue to give bad support or ignoring xmpp, I will do my best efforts to switch one by one to gmail, opening accounts, explaining why, migrating corporates to gMail apps (like I do since 2007), or whatever will be on my hands. We should catapult PSTN asap, and everyone need to be compromised. (developers, users, corporates)

    ———————————
Ads are also welcome if the client support XMPP, that really doesn’t matter. I will be happy deploying Nimbuzz everywhere with XMPP Support, and also end-clients will be happy because they could use his propietary-im-networks for a while till everyone get move to Xmpp.
    ——————————-

I was using speex 8kbps on talkonaut5-s60 and work “like no other”. I tried many codecs, also sip-stack from nokia on s60 and there is no one like speex. This is my point of view, I can be wrong, but please, give a try for your self. Give a try.
You have reason with the last 2 points, I tried N-gTalk to many clients (empathy, psy-im, other mobile clients dont need to mention right here, gTalk, gMail plug in, and so on) and the experience delay and glitches are intolerable.(Linux & win,3g,3.5g&wifi,nat)
I used Nimbuzz from long time ago (almost 3years?)

To be fair, from time to time I give a try to every xmpp mobile client out there waiting for the best XMPP client. (ask for multi xmpp client is not impossible),

Back in 2008 I used NIMBUZZ with jabber (gmail account) and gTalk (to our gMail apps) and works.

Thanks in advance and nice to let me able discuss this topic.
