UPDATE: Nimbuzz for iPhone – Wallpapers and Picture Preview (2.1)

YouTube Preview Image

The new Nimbuzz is “Free calls and messaging” with awesome new features for your iPhone and iPod touch that improve the chatting and calling experience! The update is available now to download from iTunes.

Let’s take a look at what’s new.

Chat screen options with:

✓ Chat Wallpaper – Use a photo from your album or take a picture to set as background.
✓ Shared Files Preview – Displays a thumbnail inside the chat screen.
✓ Real-Time Location Sharing – inside the chat screen to meet face-to-face by sending or requesting the location of you and your Nimbuzz friends.

Invisible Status – appear offline, but still chat and share files.

Recent Activity Tab – See call activity and play your voicemails, all in one tab.

Friend Suggestions – Connect with friends in your phone book already on Nimbuzz to call and message for free.

Featured Apps – Download new apps from the Recommended Apps section.

Nimbuzz Profile – Manage your Nimbuzz profile and change your contact information.

Let’s get a bit more into detail:

We tried to simplify the entire chat experience by integrating all your files, location sharing and text messages in the same chat window of the friend you have exchanged them with. To test new format just try to send a picture to one of your contacts or request the location of one your Nimbuzz friends.

To customize your chat experience you can now choose a wallpaper for your chats. You can use one of the existent photos in your camera roll or albums, or simply take a new one on the fly.  To change your wallpaper simply go to Settings -> Wallpaper  -> Choose image.

The newly added Recents tab offers you an overview of your calling activity and Voice mail messages. You can check who called you, who you called, and also listen to your voice mails.

You will notice the Friend Suggestions right from the very first login. This feature automatically detects which of your phone contacts are already on Nimbuzz and allows you to instantly connect with them so you can call and message them for free. You also get to see when they are online, and use the location sharing feature for face-to-face meetups.

Last but not least, we have added a new section for Recommended Apps in the Settings tab. Here you can find new apps that might interest you. The applications are both free and paid.

We hope you will enjoy our new Nimbuzz version! Feedback is always welcome, so please let us know you thoughts in the comment section below.

When does that happen? Just when starting the app? or when using an specific feature?
Have you tried already to uninstall and reinstall the app?
    Thanks for reporting.

  7. Hi, but i enabled it recently during my last recharge. Will it be effective in the entire transactions? Or it will be as if nothing will happen? I mean this will not recharge since you said it is disabled feature already. Please explain further, thanks a lot.

  8. PLEASE bring the messaging feature back. Sending and receiving inboxes. It was very very convenient because sometimes a person doesn’t want to chat, they just Want to leave a quick message. I know people who have deleted nimbuzz just because of that missing feature. So please, bring it back. An copy and paste too! Thanks (=

  11. Using Nimbuzz 2.1.0 with an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1. Ever since the last update I have noticed two things: the “Friend Suggestions” is nowhere to be seen, and I can no longer edit my own on-screen name (the username appears instead). I have reinstalled the App a few times and same result.

A similar issue is that contact nicknames do not update automatically, I must manually check each one by one to force-refresh them.

Otherwise I appreciate the Recents tab -surely more useful than the Inbox that was there before- and the return of ICQ is very much welcome.

Which device and Nimbuzz version were you using?
Which type of connection and network provider do you use?
In which country are you located?
Let us know and we will come back to you as soon as we can.
    Regards

  14. @Euclides
Yes, you can edit your own on-screen name, go to ME like if you wanted to change your status, scroll down go to My profile, select Nixkname and there you can change your display name.
In regards of the contact nicknames, we will have a look into it.
    regards

  16. Thanks a lot Queralt for your help. Fabulous piece of software you have there, really enjoy it. Still cannot see “Friends suggestions” anywhere on the App and with 700+ contacts on my iPhone some should be showing up. Otherwise congrats on the constant improvements. Voted for you on the Reader’s Choice Awards…

  19. Why da hell do ur’ll disable the coolest features of Nimbuzz to iPhone users???
No argument that iPhone is one of the very best phones in the planet but unfortunately THE NIMBUZZ TEAM who made this lovely software initially disabled the CHATROOM SERVICE for us (iPhone users?) and if u check all blogs abt 75% requests are for asking for the CHATROOM SERVICE .
Also they have now disabled the MESSAGING FEATUR. Wht I can’t understand is that why can’t they realise that how important was the PUSH MESSAGING SERVICE for us cz since mobile devices always won’t have signal this feature helps us to receive the message even v r offline. Can we receive chats if v r offline NO why can’t you geniouses can’t realise this.
I think now since Nimbuzz has it’s huge number of users they are greedy for money not user satisfaction VERY VERY BAD AND UNPROFESIONAL GUYS THIS IS WHY YOU GUYS WILL NEVER BECOME A COMPANY LIKE GOOGLE

  20. Hey. I’m having an issue with the timestamp on the chat screen. Each new minute, the time displayed is off 5 hours. I dunno were does Nimbuzz gets/computes this info from, but whatever it is, is NOT using the iPhone time/date system.
    Please advice.

    Otherwise pretty cool App.

  21. @Saliya
We understand your concern, unfortunately we do not have plans to implement Chatrooms on iPhone in the near future.
    @leonardo Soler
Have you reported this issue to our support team? If not, please do via email to support@nimbuzz.com they will be able to report this to the development team and advice you.
Make sure your device clock is up-to date.

    Dani September 9th, 2011
  24. @dani
When you tap on the received pic (on the chat window) it should show bigger, then tap again on the pic and you should have the option to save it.
