Best Nokia Apps [Nokia N8, Nokia 5320, Nokia 5800, Nokia N8 and more]
Because our previous post on best apps for Nokia E72 was really popular we decided to create an entire series to help you discover the best apps for your Nokia mobile.
Every week we will present you some of the best Nokia apps available for Symbian S60, and since there are quite a few, we will split the list into 10 categories.
Being chosen as one of the Best Nokia Apps by Ovi users and crowned Best Symbian App at the Getties Awards, Nimbuzz is without a doubt a must have for every Nokia phone… but what other cool apps are out there?
Today we will start with the best utilities apps for Symbian S60 (useful for Nokia N8, Nokia 5320, Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230 and many more).
Best Nokia Apps
Best Screen Snap – is a free app that allows you to capture screenshots on your Nokia smartphone and save them to a file or send them to friends or to your desktop computer. I use this app whenever I find an issue, to take a screenshot and share with the team
, saves me a lot of time when I need to explain what exactly happened.
Flashlight Extreme – this free app is a must have for any Nokia phone that packs a flash along with the camera. The app turns the light on your phone into a powerful flashlight and in case of emergency it can be used to signal an SOS message. Pretty clever I would say
.
Night Light – is a cool looking night light and digital clock for your night stand. Suitable for touch screen Nokia devices, you can touch the screen to show the time and double tap to turn on and off the night light.
Nokia Energy Profiler – this free app was made by Nokia to help you measure power consumption for hours and view the results as cool line graphics. You can also check your internet connection speed and investigate cellular network’s coverage. Using this app you can make the most out of your phone by choosing carefully what apps should run on your device.
Pdf+ Basic – is a simple PDF viewer that does pretty much all you need: previous page, next page, go to page – find, find next – full screen, landscape, zoom, rotate – wrap to screen, column mode – shortcuts, read e-mail attachments and web downloads.
Nokia Battery Monitor – runs in the background and collects info on your battery usage and can predict how much time you still have before you get to ‘power saving mode’. The app also estimates the charging time and it comes with a homescreen widget (which we all appreciate).
Decibel Meter – turns your phone into sound level meter. The free app can measure the peak and average in decibel (dB). Exposure to noise levels above 85 dB can damage you hearing so you can use it to find out whenever the noise around you gets too loud.
Swype for Nokia – provides a faster and easier way to input text on your Nokia mobile phone, with one continuous finger or stylus motion across the keyboard. This Symbian S60 app is available in English, Spanish, FrenchCA and PortugueseBr with more language support soon!
LevelTouch – let’s you use your phone as a builder’s level. The nokia app features both horizontal and vertical bubble tubes and readings are based on the device’s built-in accelerometer; this means you can only use it on a device that has a accelerometer.
Compass Touch – uses the built-in magnetometer and GPS to provide functions like: direction in degrees, traditional compass and longitude/latitude coordinates. It’s nice to have this kind of app available on the Nokia phones, especially since this comes as a built in app on the iPhone.
Hope you will find my list of best Nokia apps useful. What I think is cool about these apps is that they don’t require an internet connection. They simple harness the phone’s capabilities to help you make the best out of it.
As I told you above these Symbian apps are available for a large number of phones including: Nokia N8, Nokia 5320, Nokia 5800, Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia N97, Nokia E71, Nokia C7 and many many more.
BONUS APP:
Nimbuzz – is a must have app for any Nokia owner because this is one of the best social apps out there. With Nimbuzz you can call and chat for free with all your Nimbuzz friends, and even add other IM communities like Facebook, MSN or Yahoo!
Next week I am planning to gather a list with of the most useful photo apps for Nokia Symbian phones. Do you have any recommendation for my list?
