New: Nimbuzz for Symbian comes with message delivery notifications

The new Nimbuzz 3.2 for Nokia Symbian phones is ready to download.

This brand new version packs really awesome features that will make chatting even more fun. Here is what’s new:

Message Delivery Notifications will display checkmarks when your message arrives on your friend’s phone.
New Favorites Tab offers quick access to your favorite contacts so you can start chatting and calling faster.
Reintroduced the # shortcut – by pressing the # key you will go to the top of your contact list.
Auto-start – offers the possibility to automatically start Nimbuzz when you turn on your mobile phone.

Now let’s talk a bit more about these features.

The new message delivery notifications will display:

1 check mark (✓) when your message was successfully delivered to the Nimbuzz servers
2 check marks(✓✓) when your message was successfully delivered to the person you are chatting with. Please note this does not indicate that your chat was read by the other person but only delivered.

You will find the new Favorites tab on your home screen next to the Contacts tab. Here you can add the friends you always call and chat. This will make it faster and easier for you to start chatting with them.

One of the features you requested the most was added in the new 3.2 version: # shortcut. This is very useful for Nimbuzzers with a lot of friends on their list because it allows you to jump at the top of the contact list no matter where you are in the list. To test it simply go at the bottom of your list and press the key # … Nice right .

Last but not least we added the auto-start feature. This is turned OFF by default and if you would like to activate it you need to go to: Settings -> Connection -> Auto-start -> ON. If you enable it than next time you will turn on your mobile phone Nimbuzz will automatically start and run in the background.

Besides these awesome features we also fixed some annoying little bugs you reported so the overall user experience is better .

Hmmm… and where did the templates go to? They are gone in this version.
Autostart is nice, but the app sometimes can’t open. Only solution is to reinstall it. Annoying, especially cos sometimes it gives the message “Unable to install”

I love the new version however everytime the application runs it asks me to select access point. Our internet is hidden all the time.
That’s what i like in the old version, it allows me to set a specific access point without asking me everytime i login.
I hope you bring back that feature.
In the meantime, can u locate me to the old version of nimbuzz? thanks

As this really helpd me in Fast Conversation. timing of delivery Completly depends on the Speed Provided by the Operator.

i downloaded the new nimbuzz version recently and found one too many bugs still present in the application.. 1. At times when u log out of the application it wudnt start the second time and one has to re-install it. .. 2. The application wudnt start on switching on the phone and wud say ‘nimbuzz : feature not supported’.. Option: to re-install it .. 3. The contacts wud mess up on their own and the application wud collapse and wont restart .. Last resort – reinstall. I have to re-install this new version thrice a week. Which is certainly getting me on my wits end. Admin- help!

messeage delivery feature seems to be a copy of whatsapp messenger. nimbuzz is cool but still it would be better if you can have the phone book scanned for verified users and also option to add more than one account of same protocol. like two or more msn accounts like ebuddy.

im a hardcore fan of nimbuzz and appreciate your support but as i can see you are just downgrading your application with your upgrades and its disappointing…since ver.3 u made avatars and online icons smaller and harder to see,totall skin of software was prettier in ver.2 with orange color,and now in ver.3.0.2 for symbian you added another two defects to nimbuzz: 1.Removing those lovely and friendly templates 2.about suggested friends feature:some of my contacts that i rarely know and contact them added to my list without my permission! And even if i delete them immediately but my ID and my avatar with a question mark on it will remain on their add list and thats not acceptable…please listen to your fans

Also, it would be nice if you can add a feature like giving notifications when a user in buddy list comes online or goes offline.

Nimbuzz.. I’ve already update mine 3 times to version 3.2.. but still i found the problems.. let me explain :

1. the icon for the home screen is mismatched with those name..
2. is there no more template?? =(
3. all of my online contact is showed as offline contact, and the other hand, the off line contact showed as busy..
4. still no delivery report..

please help me to get the better nimbuzz.. hehe..
oh ya.. can nimbuzz had a “buzz” for YM and more emoticons??

i love the new update however everytime i try to login it always asks me so select an access point. Our wifi is hidden so i can’t connect.
The old version let’s me select which access point to use one time only, so everytime i login it doesn’t ask me anymore.
I hope Nimbuzz will bring back that feature. I can’t use the new version of Nimbuzz

We have removed the templates feature.
In regards of the auto friend-connect, you just get added people who have their phone number registered on tehir Nimbuzz account and you both have each others phone number on the device phonebook, but if you do not want that user to be your Nimbuzz contact, you can just remove him and it won’t be added neither suggested anymore.

I’ve noticed that Nimbuzz for Symbian swallows incoming voice calls from Google Voice when connected to Google Talk.

When someone calls me on my Google Voice number, Google tries to ring all of my GTalk connected devices, by order of XMPP priority (starting from the higher). Other clients, like Trillian, do the right thing and seem to pass it away (maybe because they declare right away they don’t support handing that type of call, I’m assuming), and other connected clients with lower XMPP priority get the call. Nimbuzz seems to swallow it, without displaying anything, and my other connected clients don’t get any kind of notice. This is a bit distressing for me because it makes me miss calls when I’m logged on GTalk through Nimbuzz and I don’t even notice I got a call to begin with.

It’d be great if Nimbuzz supported incoming calls from Google Voice through GTalk, or at least do not swallow and let other connected clients with lower priority handle them. My workaround is to set the client that can handle incoming Google Voice calls to a higher XMPP priority than Nimbuzz (Nimbuzz seems to set it to 10), but I don’t like doing this, because I’m usually away on the client that can accept calls, so my other contacts always think I’m away even when I’m logged on Nimbuzz, because they can’t see my Nimbuzz status on Google Talk (the client with the highest XMPP priority is the one whose status and status message “wins” and gets displayed to other people).

I’m aware this is an obscure bug, but is there any chance it could be fixed? Is there any place for me to submit this bug?

it still ask me to select an access point. I set our wifi unhidden then connect to nimbuzz. Again i set our wifi to hidden then it asks me to select an access point.

what am i doing wrong? >.<
i see an option in the settings to "change connection" or something, i can't remember.

Note Message delivery notifications just appear on Nimbuzz to Nimbuzz chats, not on Group chat conversations, neither for other IM communities.
In regards of the crash when sending files, could you be more specific? Do you get any error message? Coudl you let us know the steps you followed so we can try to reproduce the issue?

I am facing issue in sip call of nimbuzz version 3.2.0. This issue was not in 3.0 version.when I am calling through sip it is giving default tone while the other party phone is switched off . Because of the default ring tone we are eagerly waiting for their response . If it is the exact message (switched off or out of coverage or ringing tone of other party) then it will be more helpful to the users who using the sip call through nimbuzz

using Nokia N8 updated to Nimbuzz 3.2 via ovistore restarted mobile…..Nimbuzz crashes when trying to send a file or photo to community member….. in the chat window when I click on options I get option to send file…..and when I click on send file I get a blank screen(screen shot below) with “No Media File” message and “Cancle” button bottom right of the screen and if I donot touch the screen the application crashes after like 10 seconds or immediately if I touch the screen…..No error message what so ever…..and regarding the delivery notifications….not avaiable with nimbuzz chat friends either…..

Check marks just appear on Nimbuzz to nimbuzz conversations and not on other IM communities chat, neither on groupchat.
Make sure you are using the latest version available, let us know if the issue persists.

There ARE some changes. I found out that on mention or direct message coming the sound is o.k. But never it sounds when a new twitt on timeline appears. On the previous version there was a sound notification. I think for those who have many “followings” it’s much better not to have any notification on timeline. As for me I’d prefer to have notification))) Well…thanks for your work!!!

Hello, well that feature isnt working for me since the “change chat appareance” update. I use Nimbuzz mostly for stay in touch with my Community friends (Yahoo, WLM, Gtalk) and it isnt working anymore on these, not sure about nimbuzz friends, havent notice it.

The status is not updated automatically. When I’m online and the phone is not in use, the status should change to absend after x minutes. I think the previous version had the same problem.

my app is crashing sometimes when i m opening twitter. i couldnt figure out the correct situation when its crashing.
in home page, under contacts we see the number of people online. we also see the same when we are into contacts tab. the problem is these two values are never equal to me. it seems to be abug.

We do not support the feature change status to “away” or similar after minutes of inactivity on Mobile, just on PC.
But if you let the app running on the background it should show you on Push, if your device supports this feature.

Hi queralt escrich, I am using Nokia 5233 and latest version of Nimbuzz. It seems that problem is very rarely seen, even though there are less number of tweets.
Today i have observed one more issue. When I open my twitter search and just click on any of my previous search results, the application crashes. I have tried it 5times. it crashed all the times.

Image preview is not implimented in nokia n8 version while sending multimedia file. We have to note the filename before sending .Instead of showing filenames if there is a small preview of image then it is more helpful .hope latest updates will come soon.

It’s great. But I get meny problem in new version.
Like as Handset restarting one n again in call progressing. Sometime displaied in standby but call not going to other perti.
After 4-5 min of call, call disconnecting when tuch the any key.
I would like to solve this problem.

We have removed the response templates on the Symbian 3.2 and above versions of Nimbuzz due to lack of usage and to open space to other features in our application.
We don’t have plans to enable this feature back in the near future.

In regards of calling:
Remember you can just call Nimbuzz contacts which are using a calling enabled version.
Calling i not supported on BlackBerry neither Java based devices; if your contacts are using one of those devices,you won’t be able to call them.
About the file sending feature, could you be more specific?
Do you get any error message? Which one?
did you notice if this happen when sending files to an specific contact? or from a specific community?

As I mentioned before while calling sip call nimbuzz giving default ringing sound even we dial wrong number or other party switched off. Some time we are eagarly waiting for the response of other party infact there is no ring on other side. I reported this issue when the new version (3.2) was released.please let me know the status of this issue. Hope your technical team will fix this asap.

There is no option to choose provider instead I choose “other” option and register with sip.jumblo.com. This issue is for almost all users who register with other option. I am using nokia-N8. The nimbuzz version 3.0 was working fine. please let me know if you need further information.

I can’t get hold of a screen shot of my phone but basically it looks like the picture at the top of the page, without the ticks for message delivery notifications. I am only using nimbuzz for the msn and facebook community at the momennt, but neither of them has the ticks.

Thanks for your update. But since last version Nimbuzz seems to automatically clear my chat history from time to time(even if I choose to save chat history in preferences), and I can’t find any locally stored chat history data. Sometimes the chat history is very important to me. So, would you please fix this? Or, if the data was actually hidden rather than deleted, could you tell me where I can find those “lost” data? Thank you very much! BTW, I’m using Nokia E71.

just wanted to thank Nimbuzz for their awesome job and also suggest that you u can do better by creating a video call functioon for nimbuzz symbian since skype cannot mk video calls, it will mk Nimbuzz irresistable to have on ur fone especially for ppl who travel a lot and dont get to spend enough time with family… Hope you can put my suggestion into consideration and act soon.

MSN Messenger Display pictures finally working, not the best, I have to chat with someone to take his picture, but that’s ok.

Now we need, Nimbuzz to support split screen qwerty on new Anna on Nokia Touch Phones like N8, Also please fix the link issue when it’s more than one line.

These are fixes, Also I hope to see these new features :

-Copy past in Nokia
-Chat rooms on iPhone
-(Broadcast) send to all my nimbuzz friends a message (Very important in Middle east countries, they love this feature)
-Video Call support on all platforms
-New Design on Nokia
-New emoticons, I really hope for these

I think all of these are important to Nimbuzz and it’s users, for example one of my friends is not using nimbuzz on his iPhone because no chat rooms and …

Also adding in chat games would be nice

Me too having the same issue as @chris(mentioned above).
Nimbuzz latest version is getting disconnected, i mean app crashes(closes). I have thought to be inavailability of memory. But i think thats not the issue. There are no apps running in the background. I have been facing this issue since long time. I tried uninstalling and installing.. but it doesn’t work…

I use Nokia 5233. Airtel service provider from India.

Please help… Without Nimbuzz its like I became a blind man..

Hi Team, is it normal that a chat message to an offline contact is not delivered? The symbian recipient does not get the message when another symbian has sent it while the recipient was offline.

i downloaded the new nimbuzz version on my nokia E72 recently and found one too many bugs still present in the application.. 1. At times when u log out of the application it wudnt start the second time and one has to re-install it. ..
2. The application wudnt start on switching on the phone and wud say ‘nimbuzz : feature not supported’.. Option: to re-install it ..
3. The contacts wud mess up on their own and the application wud collapse and wont restart .. Last resort – reinstall.
4. When u download from the link (get.nimbuzz.com) it says file is corrupted.
I have to re-install this new version 4times a week. Which is certainly getting me on my wits end.

i thought it was my phone, but my friends told theyre facing the same problems.. on nokia E-5 and E72-1

a recent development along with these bugs.. when i switch between the chat windows … the app crashes .. and when u click on the icon to restart .. it would not respond.. due to this ive downloaded the app 5 times in last 3 days and also formatted my mmc and phone .. but no diff.. sadly..these issue are propelling me to drop using nimbuzz once and for all.

What do you think about automatic answer nimbuzz calls?
Nimbuzz actually does not uses the phone settings.
The advantage:
Nimbuzz can work as a baby phone or you can use it as area monitoring. In former times I used a second phone with SIM for this, but if nimbuzz recognizes the phone settings or it’s own settings it would be great.

I’d like to ask if someone with Symbian-Nimbuzz 3.2 have the problem that phone-call via a SIP account works well under WiFi and DOESN’T work at all under 3G, i.e. the call doesn’t start at all.
If I remember the isse started with release 3.x.

I’d like to add some information to my post:
1. the same SIP account with NIMBUZZ-Android works very well, both under 3G/3,5G as well as Wi-Fi.
2. the problem with that SIP account with NIMBUZZ-Symbian (Nokia N95-8GB and Nokia E52) is that after under 3G/3,5G the call doesn’t start, even if I select the option call, the the doesn’t start at all.
Any chance to provide you the collected screen-shots?

I like Nimbuzz. I used last two year. It’s so comfortable for used. I add my account yahoo, Gmail, Facebook, & Hotmail.
But my regular id in Rediffmail.com. And in Nimubzz have no option to add Rediffmail id so i have more problem & also skype option also not add. I used in computer & lattop so in near future rediffmail & skype add option availble or not. If possible so pls. add both option in Nimbuzz. Hi Eveybody,… I continue to get update from this blog, and they are all related to improvement for the future.
But it’s almost a year I worte here that I can’t call via SIP when I’m under a 3G and, viceversa, I can call via SIP when I’m under a WiFi.
I detected this problem via NOKIA E52 and N95 8GB.
Moreover: my Nimbuzz-Android, with the same SIP account, works well on 3G as well as WiFi.
Are we here only for improvements or also to solve problems?

That’s a good question.
I think there are several small problems with the symbian version, which should be fixed before the new features are added.

Examples:
- Only the nimbuzz symbian version uses the old VoIPAudio Server 1.0, so it’s not possible to run it parallel to Skype.
A lot of users asked in the last year to update this.
- Same with the complicated “add contact” without looking for real names only usernames.

Other examples were explained in the forum.

What I see is:
- if I use the SIP account with Nimbuzz Android works pretty well;
- if I use the same SIP account with Nimbuzz Symbian doesn’t work at all.
Do I understand well that Nimbuzz #1 works different from Nimbuzz #2 Frank?

on my N95 8GB and on the E52 of my son, that I finally brought on this world of the free/cheap call, does’t work.
It means that even if I compose the number to call when I click “call” the call doens’t start.
The map of the situation is:
Nimbuzz on Galaxy TAB Android: Nimbuzz works on 3G and WiFi
Nimbuzz on Nokia N95 and E52: Nimbuzz works on WiFi and on 3G the call doesn’t start.

When I use my E52 with SmartConnect then VoIP is disabled in the free version.
When I use my E52 with a different SIM in another network VoIP is disabled by the provider.

I tried the other apps too and nimbuzz is the best of all. Your son is completely right. The current problem is the availability of qualified support.

Any chance of getting google voice support for symbian i live in a rural area and get poor cell signal in my house and would love for a way to get calls on my N8 using wifi and my google voice number. Nimbuzz will ring when i get a phone call but it won’t connect if i hit answer.

If you have your google voice account attached to your Gtalk account you should be able to receive your Google voice calls via Nimbuzz and call to your Gtalk contacts.

I like nimbuzz very much, I use it on Nokia, but please consider these issues:
- I can’t delete a nimbuzz contact from phone directly.
- pleeeeease support symbian Anna split screen
- VOIP component installed makes conflict with Fring (only one app can make voice call at a time)

Hello there,

is it just me or the message delivery notification function isn’t working on the current ad-free version? I can’t see those check marks no matter how close i look =) Using a Nokia E72-1, Nimbuzz version 3.2.0 rev 4574.

The message delivery notification is just for Nimbuzz to Nimbuzz conversations, not for chat messages between other IM contacts.

Once an account is removed, it is no longer possible to reactivate, neither re-create (meaning create a new account with the same username).

Um…… i was thnking, the symbian version of nimbuzz allow viewng the display picture of users in chat rooms…. the jar version of the same… doesnt show the pictures of users in chat rooms…..

Hi. I have nokia e7-00 symbian anna. Nimbuzz signs in and loads. But once loaded, it hangs for about 10 seconds and crashes. This issue occured in the version just before the version I downloaded now.
Tried installing on phone memory, mass storage. Tried restarting. Still same issue.
If this helps, I have a new contact request which appears once logged in. I can press show or cancel. But when either is pressed, the popup disappears and the application hangs.

Regarding the crashing issue in Nokia e7-00 Symbian Anna v024.001:
Nimbuzz version:
It appears 3.03(1) in Application Manager
and 3.3.1 rev. 5047 in Nimbuzz.
