New: Nimbuzz for Android comes with push notifications

Our latest update for Android devices comes with two awesome features:

Push notifications (for Android O.S. 2.2 or higher)
Message delivery notifications

You can get the new version via the Android Market or Nimbuzz.com.

Now let’s talk a bit more about the new features.

A great addition to the new version is the push notifications feature. This will allow you to appear online to all your friends even if the application closed. This way the battery will last longer and will be less data consumed. If any of your contacts sends you a chat Nimbuzz will push a new notification in your status bar letting you know that someone is looking for you. Smart, convenient and simple. The feature is available for Android 2.2 or higher.

To enable push notifications go to: Settings->Notifications-> Enable.

The new message delivery notifications will display:

1 check mark (✓) when your message was successfully delivered to the Nimbuzz servers
2 check marks (✓✓) when your message was successfully delivered to the person you are chatting with. Please note this does not indicate that your chat was read by the other person but only delivered.

The new 2.0.8 version comes also with a nifty little feature called: Synchronize with device. If you activate it you will see all your Nimbuzz friends in your phone’s contact list and you will be able to start a chat or a call with them, right from the phone’s contact list.

This push notification just happens when you send a message to another nimbuzz user? Or this is valid to the other IMs accounts too?

if I hit the “Exit” option, I will still be online in the other IMs?

Chatrooms are just available on Nimbuzz Mobile for Symbian and Java devices due to shifting priorities.
We don’t have any plans on the short or mid term on other platforms.

Thanks for your request.
We do have a feature like that. It’s called Auto-connect and it will connect you with your phonebook contacts.
When you have each other’s number, you are both connected to Nimbuzz, and you both have registered your numbers with Nimbuzz, you will be automatically connected. When you rather not want to be connected with a certain contact, you just can select this person in Nimbuzz to delete it.

Push notifications will work for every IM. When you have exited the app, your status will be online/away, depending on which communities you have connected with Nimbuzz.

I have already mentioned the bugs in Nimbuzz for Symbian with message delivery blog/post…..and those were not fixed in the subsequent update……Kidnly look into that and if push notification is coming to Symbian^3/Symbian Anna then thats a great news cant wait for that….Nimbuzz has become a very important app for me in day to day life……its become part of life thank you for such a great app….looking forward for the update…….and please please do invest time in QT…….you can use QT Quick or QT QML to port your app seamlessly……try please…..

What exactly does not work ? What exactly is your issue ? Could you tell us which device, type of connection and the number of Nimbuzz version are you using ? Do you receive an error message ? If so, what does this error message say?

The chatroom feature is just available on Nimbuzz Mobile for Symbian and Java devices.

It looks really like whatsapp. By the way, I am wondering why lastest Nimbuzz for Symbian only can transfer multimedia files now. If my memory is correct, it can transfer any kind of files before.

Which exact error message do you get when trying to register your MSN account on Nimbuzz?
Have you double checked that you are entering the correct credentials? Is your password longer than 17characters?

How exactly do push notifications work??
I often go to menu and exit Nimbuz but have never, ever received a push notification with it closed, only see the chat with it opened.
And it should work since I’m using the latest nimbuzz on froyo so….
Care to elaborate a bit more on the feature??

The push notifications have STOPPED working on version 2.0.8 for android . My phone is samsung galaxy fit S-5670 running android 2.2 . Have tried everything from readding my accounts to reinstalling the app and contacting your customer support via the app and email both no reply :-\ Pls help.

To enable Push notifications on Android devices you should have previously have your Google account registered on your device, did you check that?

Hi, while making SIP call if I chat and come back to the dailing screen it does not allow to disconnect the call. Dialer screen becomes normal (as before making a call) & no call in progress is shown. I am using Nimbuzz version 3.2.0 rev 4573 on E71 through WLAN/3G in Saudi

I was using this software with Symbian OS because chat rooms but now there is no chat rooms with Android OS so sad about that I hope to include chat rooms with Android app soon I read some of your comments and I think there is no plans to implement chat rooms with Android I guess you will lose a lot of users it was a good feature and most of users at Egypt use chat rooms only so I hope to find an other software with chat rooms.

I use latest version of nimbuzz
In settings there is nothing called “push notification”
By the way I get the push notification but I appear offline when I exit nimbuzz,still if my friends im me I’ll get notified..i wanna appear online when I exit nimbuzz as specified in the update,pls help me out.

Once you select Notifications, you have the option to enable it just tap on it.
The push notification will show you as “pushable” not as online, but your contacts will be able to recah you this way.

Hello,

I’ve playing for sometime with Nimbuzz and though I like it I have got a few problems.
Phone : Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Android : 2.3.3
Nimbuzz : 2.0.8
Network : NTT Docomo in Japan

I have enabled the push notifications and my gmail account is sync with my device.
When nimbuzz is exited on the phone, then messages sent from Nimbuzz Mac (another account) to my phone trigger the notifications Nimbuzz turns up all right.

However, if Nimbuzz is left to run in the background, it appears to be online, but in fact somehow loose the connection. When a message is sent from the mac, one green check appears (on Nimbuzz Mac), but the message never makes it to the phone. However, if I fore Nimbuss to reconnect (by looking at someone profile per ex), then the messages eventually get delivered.

Any suggestions ?
That realy block me from using Nimbuzz on a regular basis.

hola me gustaria saber si es necesario estar conectado a internet a travez de un plan o una red wifi. porque unos amigos me presumieron tener nimbuzz en su BLACKBERRY Y QUE PUEDEN chatear a traves de faceboock sin estar conectados a internet por medio de wifi o plan de internet, que toman la señal satelital incluso en carreteras. y ya lei mucho y no veo esa caracteristica en mi LG P970h con androi
