New Nimbuzz for Symbian! Get it now!

We are really proud to present the brand new Nimbuzz for Nokia Symbian. You can get your hands on this awesome version right now. (Auto update will be turned on early next week ;) )

One of the first things I’m sure you will notice is the beautifully redesigned Home Screen. We made the icons bigger and rearranged them in grid view so you can access the most important functions with a single touch. Even more exciting is that we added three new icons to the list: Recent Chats, N-World and Groupchat ;).

Here is the complete overview of Nimbuzz 3.3 for Nokia Symbian phones:

  • Redesigned Home Screen for fast access to your favorite features
  • Three new icons added: Recent Chats, N-World and Groupchat
  • Block contacts that annoy you
  • New “Notifiable” icon – the green half moon
  • Change your password from the inside the app
  • 30% faster login

The icon with a half green moon stands for Notifiable and it will appear only next to your Nimbuzz contacts that closed the Nimbuzz app but can still receive push (on the iPhone and Android)  or  Ping notifications (on the Java and Symbian phones).

So when you see this icon remember that we will push your messages to your friend but it might take a while for them to see it since their app is closed.

  2. i sincerely dont like your twitter refresh time interval to me 3 minute is too long. I would hav prefered if it could update you the monent a new tweet enters. Imagine my nibuzz app would b on but i still open my opera mini or ucbrowser to get new tweet just becos i cant wait for 3 minutes cos i know i must have gotten enough tweets during that time interval. I would appreciate if its shows you tweets instantly from your account. Thanks

    glad to see a new update but i reinstalled 3.2.0 again.the problem is that we cant toggle/switch between active chats with scroll keys.have to press back and select the new chat received.and other thing is twitter option suddenly disappear from home screen and no tab for twitter too.please be kind to consider about the following issues.

    i don’t care about redisigned home screen… we NEED the video calls, now only Fring allow to make videocalls on Symbian phones, so why don’t you add this function???

    on Symbian phones only Fring app can provide video calls and doesn’t exist the pc version of Fring, so you could be the first one who provide this service!!!

  7. Tanks for the update… Please support Symbian^3’s native push framework. Nokia gives you an excellent API for that. You should also finally consider to switch to Qt Quick components, which can be included even for S60v5 and made optional on devices without Qt support… Especially lists are a pain to use with AVKON and you don’t bother to bring splitscreen input :-/

    I’ve a question, I’m facing some Network related issues after installing this update (3.3). After logging in, I lose my Active Internet 2G (Socket Connection) after 5 Minutes everytime. It gets Disconnected & takes too long to reconnect. Please solve this bug ASAP & also let me know if we have available Chatrooms for Nimbuzz, (BlackBerry). Thanks again. :)

And pls add virtual keyboard on touch devices. it would be also great. it’s real hard to chat devices that only have t9 mode instead of virtual qwerty input.   20. instead of half green moon, it would have been decent to have just full green circle, and when msg is delivered, a tick in the green circle would have looked much better. Think of being more realistic.

  28. Wew… This version is so complicated. Not user friendly at all. My friends are confused with options changing place. Please whenever you build a software be customer orientated. Not all people are computer geek or high tech. Some consumer just want a simple, clear, precise software.

  30. When I saw the new version is available, I immediately installed the check out those new updates. There are few things I liked in this new version like faster login, blocking etc… other features are nice also. But something disappointed me

    switching chat window through nav key missing.

    No Chat alert sound when chat screen is active.
    I missed this 2 main features very much and rolled back to v3.2. I hope this issues will be fixed soon.

    There is another problem I’m facing with Ping service. Nimbuzz Ping supported on Aircel India network, unfortunately I’m getting an error message this service is not available on your number. I contacted Nimbuzz support through twitter and email but haven’t received any satisfactory response. :(

  32. Hello admins, pls i have some problems with my chatroom and need you to help me fix it back. I actually use a ban bot to ban flood in my chatroom and this bot bans any user that repeats text or quotes message using bombus, including owners/admins. I was on bombus with my owner id and got banned by the bot for quoting text. Though i have other of my ids as admin including other admins i appointed but i would be so grateful if you help me restore my owner id cos i can’t access important features like ‘configure room’ or make new admin. Pls kindly see to this situation. Thanks and God bless.

  33. friends dont download thisthere are lot of backlogs because we cant see multichat by changing from one to other if we want to see other chats we have to go back and enter, we cant see how many are in onlune while in home screen..and also no new tweets in home screen. Never download this…

    We do not support calling on Non Nokia Symbian devices since we use a Nokia Library to develop the call feature and your device lacks of it.
    We will investigate the possibility of adding calling on devices like yours.

    Please fix the bugs before adding new features.

    *voip studio 2.0(because nimbuzz cant run same time with Skype and fring)

    Additional features for symbian:
    – different access points and access groups
    – saving the sound volume
    – disable other accounts instead of deleting

    Other features not only for symbian
    – chat history on all clients
    – Search nimbuzz users by name and location
    – Trial call
    – Save the last status (online, offline, … )

    I tried with two Nokia symbian phones.
    With 3.3 no SIP calls working. At the same time the 3.2 on the other phone works perfectly.
    Downgrade from 3.3 to 3.0 on the first phone, it works.
    Upgrade from 3.0 to 3.3 again at 7PM german time.
    SIP works with 3.3. I didn’t change something, did you in the background?

  49. In the chat with Windows Live contacts appears an error notification “unable to send MSN: reason” ..what is this?! The MSN contacts can’t chat with me !! I’m using the new 3.3 version, but i guess i’m downgrading to 3.2 version..

Everytime i miss chats when my phone is silent and in sleep mode… Smile list should be made (grid) like java application… And tell me when the ad-free version will come in Nokia store? Advertise is so disgusting… :@

  62. I’m using version 3.2.2 on my nokia 5800XM.
    What is good: very good voice quality, even on 3G connections.
    What is bad:
    – app staying on 3G even if wifi becomes available
    – missing voice support on vivaz (other apps, like fring, support voice on vivaz and this is a good reason for me not to fully switch to nimbuzz)
    – it’s not possible to declare nimbuzz as system app, therefore the app closes if something else needs memory

    Nice to have features not yet available: cross platform video call.

    Any improvement foreseen in the next version?

  64. We need split screen support like this ones:

    Look at the Imo messenger (www.imo.im) which furthermore supports Skype! (don’t know how but it’S true).
    Another app using splitscreen is fMobi (http://jiikoo.com/fMobi/).
    We go on with Whatsapp and some more. So it shouldn’t be a problem…

    When will ver 3.5. with video calling be released?

    There is only two Meego device, Nokia N900 and Nokia N9. Meego is not a popular OS, and Nokia is no more supporting it. Meego is being rename as Tinzen which is now in joint development between Samsung and Intel. Sadly, you should have made research about popular supported OS like Android, iOS, and Window Phone which all have tons of apps and developer’s support.

    2) Offline contact show/hide option is good but, create an option where we can also show/hide our telephone contacts.

    3) provide various offers/contests for gaining free Nimbuzz credits :P

    4) Please strive to make it a bit more faster

    5)Is it possible to incorporate multiple Facebook or Gmail accounts ?

    6) Is is possible to enable marking feature in Nimbuzz, whereby, we can select/ delete multiple contacts.

    7)It it possible to clean up the clutter a bit, remove all unused accounts/groups/chat rooms… and also the spammers in group chats

    The issue happens when calling a Nimbuzz contact. To be more specific : In my Nokia E7, there is no physical end call button, in normal calls, a red button appears on the screen, and I have to click it in order to end the call. But when calling a Nimbuzz contact, I see that a white end call button appears down left the screen while it’s ringing but it disappears when the contact answers the call. And then, I can’t end the call to a Nimbuzz contact.

  108. i have found some bugs using my N8. While in an IM windw if you try to full screen the selected IM window you’ll never be able to go back. Switching from landscape to portrait also show some bugs sometimes. Another bug is if you receive a voice call, you have no option to end the call.

    By the way my operating system is nokia belle. I’m not really sure if it’s compatible issue or not.

    Aside from that we really wish that video call support will be added in the next update.

    But wheter with or without video callwe are still loyal to nimbuzz. Nimbuzz rocks our world \\m//

    Here again:

    *enable send more file extensions(.jar/.sis/.sisx/.rar/.zip/.cab etc)
    *voip studio 2.0(because nimbuzz can’t run same time with Skype and fring)

    Additional features for symbian:
    – different access points and access groups
    – saving the sound volume for calls

    Other features not only for symbian
    – chat history on all clients
    – Search nimbuzz users by name and location
    – Save the last status (online, offline, … )

    is was searching the blogs for information about the ad-free version of nimbuzz for nokia. Why did it disappear from the store? Will it be available in the future again? I would pay for it =) With current version and Nokia Belle its really annoying cause ads take up much space on the screen.

    I also wanted togive a hint with a problem concerning tabbed chats on my Nokia E7 Belle. Wenn having multiple active chats and selecting a contact from my contact list, the tabs disappear.

  128. No end button or mute button available in Symbian belle during a call. Nokia C07 has a built in end button on the device, and hence it works. But Nokia N8 has no dedicated End button in the phone.

    Before installing symbian belle, there was 2 button available on the screen, 1. Mute and 2. End call.

    I cant end a call on process in Nokia N8. So I have to clsoe and quit the nimbuzz completely.

  138. I have an N8 w/ Symbian Belle and unfortunately also have to way to end a call. I reported this issue (as others did) nearly six months ago and I find it absurd that Nimbuzz has not fixed it.

    @Nimbuzz you keep saying you are aware of the issue and that you are working on fixing it for the next release. I realize you can’t provide exact dates and I don’t expect one, however it doesn’t seem like your doing anything at all about the issue. I mean, does it really take more than half a year to fix this bug???

    Shouldn’t fixing it have higher priority considering it hinders the usability of the app dramatically??

    While I understand you may be working on either fixing several bugs together or developing a QT version (doubt it), don’t you think it’s better to roll out smaller but more frequent updates??

  149. @paul – The files which you receive can be viewed in received files option. However, you do not have a folder for sent items from where you can retrieve the sent files. If you delete the received files from your device, you will not be able to retrieve the same again. If you wish to remove the sent file which appears in the chat screen, you can delete the chat history. Regards!!

    When we type a txt and we want to delete a character or get back in text is deleted but in text bow n0t deletet ,um is n0t easay to say just with this write a fals charcter in word and then delete and type true to get what i am saying

    U all are telling by your queries that the files are not stored in your server but when ever a peson wants to download recieved file it downloads from a specifed link ….and if that link is shared with any one it can be easily downloaded ….so where is the privacy…..and those files are stored only in servers thats why u provide a link to download….further if u r keeping our files record….is it possible to get hacked ….or nimbuzz team is doing some sort of business with our files…..plz reply my query

  163. @EsfandyR – If you update the new version of Nimbuzz without uninstalling the already present Nimbuzz application on your device you will be able to see the chat history. However, if your uninstall the application once and then install the application the chat history would be removed. Only the contacts would be automatically updated in this case. Thanks!!

It is on our roadmap, to provide this feature to other platforms as well, but unfortunately we cannot provide you with a fix date for it to be implemented.   171. @anne – Select any one person you want to start group chat with>go to Options>hit group chat>select the persons you want to add to the group chat.

  173. I am using n701, i installed nimbuz version 3.3 sis from nokia ovi store , wen try to search friends it wont allow me type letters of the names , ids ,when i try to type it automatically takes four letters and closed keypad layout … Can u help me ….
