Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL
Sony has revealed the much awaited and talked about Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia ZL at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. Both newcomers are equipped with the recently launched Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core 1.5GHz Krait processora along with Adreno 320 graphics and 2GB of RAM.
The newly revealed mobile phones feature a 5″ LED-backlit 1080p display with Mobile Bravia 2 Engine as well as a 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor with 1080p video recording capabilities and HDR option. A microSD slot is also a part of both mobiles.
There are only a few differences between the two quite similar mobile handsets among which the primary difference is that the IP57-certification for dust and water resistance in the Xperia Z.
The Xperia Z has a non-removable 2,330 mAh battery and a unibody design and features all possible connectivity options namely, HSPA+, LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC and FM radio. It operates on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which flaunts the latest version of Sony’s proprietary launcher skin.
While the Sony Xperia ZL is quite similar to the Xperia Z in most ways, it lacks IP57 certification and sports a different design. The smartphone has a thicker profile with a smaller footprint and is lighter in comparison to the Xperia Z. Also, the front camera in the Xperia ZL is placed in the bottom right corner of the front panel. It uses the same operating system, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean features in the Xperia Z.
The prices for the two smartphones haven’t been revealed so far, but it is expected that the each of the two new mobiles will cater to different markets. The mobile phones are set to hit the markets in March 2013.
