For the inaugural 2010 Bully Awards the winners were selected from a pool of entries that included hundreds of nominated European TMT companies.

… in Finland. As you might recall, last October (’09) we announced here that “Starting next July 2010, Finland’s Ministry of Transport and Communications will make sure that every person in Finland has access to a one-megabit broadband connection!” . Well it’s July and finally official.  All Finns have the legal right to an internet connection.

But wait, there is more , according to the BBC Finland wants to connect everyone to a 100Mbps connection by 2015. Pretty awesome if you ask me (jealous).

We are really happy to let you know that Nimbuzz is nominated for a Meffys Award, in the Social Networking category… again ! This is the second year in a row that we have been nominated as one of the most innovative mobile apps.

MEF (Mobile Entertainement Forum) is organizing the 7^th edition of the Meffys awards, one of the most prestigious competitions for the mobile industry. The nominees were selected after four days of judging by representatives from over 45 companies, publications and analyst houses. You can see all the nominees here.

If you are in Amsterdam on March 29 or around here we would like to let you know that you can meet us at Brazil Means Business. This is an event where Brazilian and European entrepreneurs and investors will debate the growing interest in the emerging economy that signifies a huge market for web applications and Internet startups.

Dick van der Kwaak,  Nimbuzz VP of Business Operations will be present at the event and will talk about our experience in working with the Brazilian market so far. We have opened an office in Sao Paolo in 2008 and ever since we focused on PR and partnerships deals to enable Nimbuzz to become the best choice for all the Brazilian people.

So far, Marcelo (pictured below) our main man in Brazil has done a great job on positioning Nimbuzz as a top brand in Brazil. He did that by managing a brilliant blog, representing Nimbuzz at local events and spreading the word among the young Brazilian marketeers.

It is Mobile World Congress time again, and we invite to come and meet us at our booth to show you what we’ve got coming up for you!

Mobile World Congress is the biggest yearly event of the mobile industry, and it is the place where leaders in the space gather to collaborate. In 2009, Mobile World Congress hosted approximately 47,000 mobile professionals from 182 countries.

Last night at the BlackBerry EMEA Alliance Summit 2009 in Rome, our colleague Rutger Coolen (pictured in the middle ) was honored to collect the Connect On BlackBerry award on behalf of everyone at Nimbuzz.

After being launched in Germany, 2 weeks ago, the Toshiba TG01 handset continues its European launch and is now available in Italy with Nimbuzz pre-installed from Euronics.

That sounds like good news for the 47 million mobile users in Italy, and especially for the 25.9% that are already mobile media users (ComScore). The Italian owners of the new TG01 will be able to connect and interact with all of their friends from the most popular Social Networks and Instant Messaging communities with just one touch from the main screen.  Our partnership with Giovani.it adds even more local social appeal to the Toshiba TG01‘s launch in Italy, since Giovani.it‘s  users can connect directly with friends using Nimbuzz on the Giovani.it’s website.

By being pre-installed on the handset,  we aim to simplify and enhance  the daily “hyper-connected” lifestyle of the TG01 mobile user.

We are really happy to announce that Nimbuzz is nominated for a Meffys Award, in the Social Networking category.

MEF (Mobile Entertainement Forum) is organizing the 6th edition of the Meffys awards, one of the most prestigious competitions for the mobile industry. The nominees were selected by 43 international press and analysts that evaluated 180+ subscriptions, based on:  innovative content, services, applications and handsets.

Rimma Perelmuter, Executive Director of MEF, said: “From the meteoric rise of apps-inspired vendors and content owners in driving consumer engagement to the remarkable growth achieved in emerging markets and the evolution of transparent, user-friendly business models, the 2009 entries provide a window to all the latest trends and innovations.
