Yesterday at the conference in London,  HTC  has unveiled 2 new mobile phones the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Desire Z.

Both models will land in stores sometime in October and  will have enhanced HTC Sense experience with HTCsense.com services. Yes, you can install Nimbuzz on them .

The new HTC Desire HD (pictured above) is pretty much the European and Asian version of the HTC Evo, but with a aluminum casing instead of the old plastic one and without the front facing camera .  Here is a short overview of the HTC Desire HD features:

According to the latest numbers made available on the Android Developers blog,  70% of all the active Android phones are running on Android 2.x.

This is quite a huge jump if you think that back in May 63,6% of all active phones were running on 1.5 and 1.6,  so the Android 2.1 and 2.2 jumped from 30% to 70% in only 3 months.

This change in stats was caused by the big number of new mobile phones released lately but also due the large number of upgrades including the HTC trio of the Nexus One, EVO 4G and Desire handsets that now run on 2.2.

A big advantage of this achievement is that makes it easier for developers to create apps.  Less fragmentation means that developers need to take in account less variables when creating apps, which means that we can all enjoy better quality apps .

There is an abundance  of news across the web about new Android mobiles and it seems like every day there’s a new phone showing  up or at least a lost prototype forgotten somewhere. With all the available choices it becomes more difficult to decide what will be your next mobile. In the end it might all depend what phone is available with your operator, if it has a shiny commercial or just interesting promotion.

However I love technology and I think that we should do a thorough research before we buy something, just to be sure that is the right thing for us and we will be happy with the features and capabilities of a new mobile. I also like “TOP 10” kind of articles, they make my life so much easier, and I don’t need to spend an entire week on the research. I can pick up the best choices and see which of those the best is for me. That’s why I decided to come up with Top 10 Android phone for this moment: D … Well only 7 made it in the end but that still a good place to start .

The top Android mobiles I made is based on my personal experience (since we test a lot of mobiles here at Nimbuzz) and the reviews I read daily on the internet. So here it goes the top 7 Android phone IMHO.

Android is BIG, how big you may ask? Well, big enough to surpass the iPhone sales in the first quarter of 2010 in US .

Yes, that was really good news for Google and Android fans and now Eric Schmidt unveils even more good news: the company’s partners are shipping 65,000 Android phones daily, up 5000 from February this year. That is a nice increase and big achievement for them. Congrats guys!

And talking about the Android mobiles, I thought would be nice to share with you my top 5 best apps for Android phones. I currently use these applications on my HTC Magic, but i have also tried them on the Nexus One, Motorola Droid and HTC Desire (and all worked fine).

Yes, that definitely  sounds good.

With the announcement of the new HTC EVO 4G we can only think of how great it will be to make free VoIP calls over 4G . The new Evo will be available in the US stores from June 4th at only 199$, with a monthly subscription from Sprint. This comes just a few days before Apple’s WWDC 2010 on 7 June, where they will (hopefully) unveil the official iPhone 4G. So in just a matter of weeks we will have 2 handsets capable of making VoIP calls over 4G. Pretty cool, right?

Awesome news everybody, Google’s Nexus One will land in Europe sometime during the following 35 days. Vodafone announces that it will start selling Nexus One from Google directly through its stores and online in the UK from 30 April and in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and in France through SFR during May. [Vodafone UK press release]

A few weeks ago I had the chance to play with it for a while and I loved it. It’s super fast, with a great UI (love the live backgrounds) and a great social networking tool, thanks to it’s App rich Android Market. The mobile comes  out of the box with some really useful tools like: a YouTube app, Google maps and Google Goggles.

Everybody seems to be pretty hyped about the new “Google phone” , Nexus One, and while most of the users salute the initiative and of course consider general competition  a great thing , some of the most relevant IT blogs around are questioning the effect of the new Android powered phone among the other mobile manufactures.  Whether this new phone will alienate some of the competitors I guess we will discover in the following months .
