Article wrote as part of Nimbuzz Nokia Symbian Week!

While browsing through the exposition floor at this year’s Nokia World which took place last week on the 2nd and 3rd of September in Stuttgart, I was drawn towards the new devices, software and solutions. It definitely was an eye-opening experience to talk to the people behind these different products and ask about some of the choices they made as well as their plans for the future. However, one demo from the Nokia Research Center struck me with its novelty, ambition, and absolute sci-fi factor. The team had some concept glasses which projected images and had an embedded tiny camera that detected your eye’s movement allowing you to browse through the pictures. A video to further explain the concept and show its true power can be found on this page under “Nokia Mixed Reality“.

Official: Nimbuzz entering Nokia’s Ovi Store

August 31st, 2009

nimbuzz-in-the-ovi-store

Good news for all the Nokia and Nimbuzz fans out there, Nimbuzz is present in the Ovi store and ready for download for your beloved Nokia mobile phones [Ovi Download link].

In the last year many of us realized that Apple’s App Store model was a huge success and with 1 Billion applications downloaded in less one year,  few can contradict this.

The idea spread out really quick and soon after,  big names of the mobile industry went in the same direction.  Nokia,  Google, Sony (and a lot more to follow) created a unique space for their users to find the best applications for their mobile phones. From what we can tell each of the stores is a success:  App Store, Android Market, Ovi Store and also Getjar.com where Nimbuzz was the was #1 most downloaded application in US store last month.

Making a global statement in 140 characters

Twitter_Bird_tweets Twitter has received the spectrum of responses from the public - some hate it, some love it, some are obsessed, others irritated…. but it’s still growing.

Although no one is really clear on the future monetization of Twitter as a company, it’s impressive to see the dramatic usage uptake for things like Psychology experiments via Twitter, and marketing promotions to tweeters that RT. For Nimbuzz, monitoring Twitter-like services allows us to engage and maintain happy customers (we try).

Why do we encourage the usage of it, and what’s in it for you?

How students can save money traveling across the world

July 23rd, 2009

Stay Connected

Yey!!!  July is here and for most of the students that means that it’s time for a study-break :D .

While some of you already packed your bags, got a map and bought tickets for a nice trip across the world, others might go abroad for an internship or for a Work and Travel experience.  Or maybe you just made plans to visit a long lost relative in the Never-Never Land or at least you have a friend who might do that.

Well, I would like to tell you how you can save your money for more important things like beer fruit juice, while abroad: Using Nimbuzz.

Staying in touch with our friends and family it’s really important but the roaming fees, for a traveling student with a fixed budget, are kind of expensive.  Also taking your laptop with you just to be available online for your friends is not an option when you DEFINITELY need that extra pair of sun glasses :D !

So how exactly can Nimbuzz save you money?

Wi-Fi in the Sky is the next big thing! (or so they say)

Each day, our lives become more and more mobile, and we need to always be available to our family, friends or business contacts.

The latest buzz in the blogosphere is the project of introducing a Wi-Fi connection, in the airplanes. This will result in complete and “always on” presence online for the ones that need it (like me ).

For U.S. we already have dates when Wi-Fi will be available for most of the travelers.

“AirTran Airways will equip all of its 136 planes with Wi-Fi by the end of July 2009.”
“Delta Air Lines, which operates more than 1,000 planes, and American Airlines, with more than 600 jets, are rolling the service out over the next year (2010).” [LAtimes]
